The “reformation” introduced many doctrinal errors into Christianity. The primary one (and cornerstone of all the rest) is Sola Scriptura (Link to FREE MP3 Bible study.), the errant belief that the Bible alone is all one needs for correct Christian belief and practice. This is not even a Biblical doctrine itself but requires twisted interpretations of some passages while ignoring others

Most non-Catholics are uncomfortable with the idea that their fundamental belief might be erroneous and react accordingly, but that is just a knee jerk response to proposing that something they hold as sacrosanct is untrue.

If you wish to have a better understanding of what we believe, I urge you to sign up for this FREE course from the Catholic Home Study Service. It’s called, “We Believe…” It is very good and not just for Catholics. They offer several more if you find that one good. I know I did. 🙂 )

. . . to be Catholic?

This is basic and not a trick question. There’s no right or wrong answer. In fact, I’m interested in getting a variety of answers to this vague question.

What do Catholics believe to be the Truth?
The Catholic Church is the extension of Christ’s Incarnation in time and place. It is the means through which He infallibly preserves His Self-Revelation and through which He nourishes and builds up His Body in the Sacraments. The Creeds answer questions re the belief received in that same Revelation.
