Did you read the quote? It says the angels work is over after helping us in our last hour of sin. Our most desperate moment for gods mercy
Yes, last hour of sin, meaning their last hour in this life. The guardian angel’s work is done after you’re dead.

That doesn’t mean he never worked at all in all of the years of your life before your last hour.

Also from the page you linked:
Guardian angels also have the power to help our imagination in meditation. Since the imagination is one of our inner senses the angel can actually place holy images in the mind, especially if we ask their assistance.
And Thistle quoted the catechism:
CCC 336 From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. “Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life.” Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of angels and men united in God.
Both are discussing the same idea: that our guardian angels are with us all the time to guide us towards holiness.

Perhaps more elaboration is necessary.

Take the statement:

“If it rains, then they cancel school.”

This statement has a converse, an inverse, and a contrapositive:
Converse: “If they cancel school, then it rains.”
Inverse: “If they do not cancel school, then it does not rain.”
Contrapositive: “If it does not rain, then they do not cancel school.”

In this case, the statement and the contrapositive are true. The converse and inverse are sometimes true, but other times false.

Now, take this new statement:

“If a person is in great need, their guardian angel helps them.”

This statement has a converse, an inverse, and a contrapositive:
Converse: “If a person is not in great need, their guardian angel does not help them.”
Inverse: “If a person’s guardian angel helps them, they are in great need.”
Contrapositive: “If a guardian angel does not help his person, that person is not in great need.”

Once again, the statement and the contrapositive are true. And in this case, the converse and inverse are DEFINITELY false, as we know from Catholic teaching. That is, not only are they not logically following from the statement, but we know from outside information that they are false.
Right… I didn’t say you stole money.

Why is it false? Angels help us in times of need, just as the inverse said in your examples.

Read it carefully.

Inverse: “If a person’s guardian angel helps them, they are in great need.”

This inverse is stating, basically, that the guardian angel only helps someone if they are in great need. Which is false. According to all valid Catholic teaching.

I really don’t know why you are belaboring such a silly point.

 You’re changing the subject. Do you understand the point or not?

The only reason I’m posting on this at all is to try and help you understand it… but you sometimes give me the impression that you’re just trying to be difficult. I haven’t quite yet come to determine whether you’re actually open to receiving (name removed by moderator)ut.

I read your link. It does NOT say anywhere in that article that guardian angels are only with us from time to time only.

Please show me exactly where that article supports your claim that guardian angels are not with us all the time while we are alive on earth.
He already posted the excerpt which he thought proved his point, and I already picked it apart. Read the above.

I understand you heretic point, that does not mean I have to agree with it.

Hi TheTrinitySaves,

I’m posting a link here to Fr. John Hardon’s Catechism on the Angels.

It’s really comprehensive, and contains a lot of information regarding angels, if you’d like to take a look at it. 🙂

therealpresence.org/archives/Angelology/Angelology_027.htm

This excerpt from Fr. Hardon’s Catechism-which I’m pasting here–is from the section on Sacred Scripture:

**57. What are some of the ministries of the angels in the Bible?
**
There is no limit to the variety of ways in which angels minister to the needs of human beings. They speak to people, they correct those who are doing wrong, the good angels lead people to serve God faithfully, the devils seduce men into sin. The angels instruct peoples minds, they announce important events like the birth of Christ in Bethlehem, they admonish and minister to human needs. Yet all the while they are in the presence of God whom they never cease to adore.

You are correct in that they can help us at the time of our death. 🙂

However, they are not only limited to that period of time, as you can see from what Fr. Hardon tells us in his Catechism, too.

May God bless you on your journey of faith!

It seems as though perhaps TheTrinitySaves misunderstood “the last hour of sin” as meaning a serious time of need instead of the last hour of our life on earth.

TheTrinitySaves, the quote you provided says that your guardian angel is working until you are dead, and then he gets to rest for all eternity (e.g., he doesn’t get reassigned to someone else). He may work especially hard at the moment of your death to ensure that you have the graces necessary to avoid hell, but that quote does not imply that he is MIA until then. The Church teaches that our guardian angels are a constant presence.

God bless.

Hi nodito,

Ah yes, I understand what you’re saying. 🙂

Good point, to catch that.

I think that it’s good to bring that up, because I think that sometimes it can be a little confusing to try and interpret some of these documents. We can think that they mean one thing, when they mean something else. 🙂

I understand you heretic point, that does not mean I have to agree with it.
Since I have thoroughly disproved your point of view (which is, in fact, the actual heresy being promoted on this thread), I have no further purpose here.

Anyone with use of reason can read the posts in this thread and see quite clearly that the link you referenced does not, in fact, support what you are saying. I have no need to repeat myself at this point.

You have not throughly “disproved” my point of view.

All you have done is taken satisfaction in name calling and insults.

I have nothing more to add.

Good day

if he guards me spiritually why do I get tempted by demons surely he should stop them
Your guardian angel works first and foremost for God, and can only do what God permits him to do. That being said, if God wants you to be tempted (to enable you to grow in virtue…you can’t build muscles without working out), God will have your angel hold back a little. But trust me, your angel blocks more than you realize!
