What does "O clement" in the Salve Ragina mean?

Hi I have prayed the Salve Ragina since I converted to Catholicism 5 years ago and from time to time I wandered what does the “O clement” part mean. If you can help me understand this I would be very grateful.

From the dictionary:

mild or merciful in disposition or character; lenient; compassionate

Many Popes have also taken the name Clement–in part after Pope St. Clement I, but also for the meaning of the word 🙂
 
OK thanks, I’ll get out a dictionary next time I have a question regarding the meaning of a word.
