What does Scripture say about animal's souls?

As a catechist I am often asked this question by my students: Are there pets in Heaven??I know that only humans have a soul – and not animals-- BUT that does NOT theologically mean that there are not animals in heaven. Can you provide scripture references to validate your reply? Thank you.
