What does "Sola Fide" mean?

LatinRite also seems to be opining that if you are Baptized, you are automatically one of “the elect”.

Here is what is a small portion of what is really taught (emphasis mine) . . . .

CCC 161 Believing in Jesus Christ and in the One who sent him for our salvation is necessary for obtaining that salvation.42 "Since “without faith it is impossible to please [God]” and to attain to the fellowship of his sons, therefore without faith no one has ever attained justification, nor will anyone obtain eternal life ‘But he who endures to the end.’"43

Perseverance in faith

CCC 162a
Faith is an entirely free gift that God makes to man. We can lose this priceless gift . . . .

LatinRite again (emphasis mine) . . . .
As God’s children/His elect in this first stage of our salvation at our baptism we have
received 100 % Irrevocable Legal Right/Eligibility to enter heaven as
God’s free gift. – (DE FIDE) Catholic Dogma.
This is a partial truth and ignores the fact that people later can THROW their salvation away. It isn’t “revoked” but later “rejected” by the recipient.

They can repent (also with God’s grace) and get it back, but there is no guarantee that this will occur!

LatinRite’s thesis assumes “eligibility” is the same as perseverance.

LatinRite seems to think if you are Baptized you are automatically one of “the elect”.

This is taught nowhere in Catholicism.

LatinRite also said . . . .
Phil.2:12-15; We work out our salvation, …
Which is in reality, we working out the benefits of our salvation.
Yet this is NOT what is taught.

Here is what is REALLY taught . . . .

PHILIPPIANS 2:12-13 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for God is at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Here is what is NOT taught . . . .

NOT PHILIPPIANS 2:12-13 (Phantom Verse) 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation, which is in reality merely we working out the benefits of our salvation. 13 for God is at work in you, but this work of Jesus’ IN YOU with your cooperation has nothing to do with salvation.

And we hear St. Paul say . . . .

2nd CORINTHIANS 6:1 1 Working together with him, then, we entreat you not to accept the grace of God in vain.

There were so many other things that needed to be discussed, I didn’t think it was fair to the OP for me to keep addressing all the disparities and partial truths being presented here.

So I began a separate thread to go into details on many of the side issues associated with justification.

The way I see it we need to make clear the way we understand the different teachings of the RCC and the Scriptures.

I don’t mind if we continue in this thread; What does “Sola Fide” mean?

Probably far better if you start a new thread with your thread tile on the apologetics section and we continue there.
