What does the Church teach about circumcision?

My husband and I are considering circumcision for our son (due to arrive any day now!). I know there isn’t much information in the catechism, except CCC 2297 regarding non-theraputic mutations, etc. I have also seen statements from the Council of Vienne (1311) and the Council of Florence (1438) which speak strongly against it. Yet it seems like the Church doesn’t have a strong stance about it. I’m confused!
