What does the Church teach about Islam in the Bible?

Genesis notes Ishmael as a son of Isaac. Catholics recognize him as the leader of Islamic family tree.

Considering many biblical references to Isaac and his decendents, what is the Catholic view (or theologian’s speculations) on Ishmael’s decendents, and specifically: does the bible say/imply anything about Islam – today or in the past? The Koran has references to Jesus; does the bible have references to the decendents of Ishmael – Islamic or not?

Hi,

Maybe some uninformed Catholics recognize Ishmael as the beginning of the Islamic family tree, but the Catholic Church certainly does NOT teach this. Mohamed wasn’t even born until 570 AD.
