I have been researching the idea of the wife’s submission to her husband. I’ve found various writings by Popes, church Fathers etc. As well as various “amateur” interpretations. I’d really like to know how the Church interprets this section of scripture. Is there a practical theology of “male headship” or is it the case that the emphasis is on the husband “loving the wife as Christ loves the church?” And what do we say to people who interpret this to mean that the “biblical” wife is submissive to the husband in all things?
