What does the large host signify?

I notice that sometimes during the Mass the size of the host that is held up during the consecration is quite large compared to others. What is the significance?
 
Dear L,

The priest usually uses a host that is larger than everyone else’s so that it can be easily seen by the faithful. Some priests use even larger hosts that can be broken for distribution to the faithful. This is meant to be a sign of unity: many people being nourished by the same Lord.
