What does this Christian symbol mean?

When I was growing up, there was a Lutheran church down the street that had a stone cross on top of their building, with a circle in the middle.

Anyone know what that signifies?
 
That sounds like the Celtic Cross. I don’t know why a Lutheran Church would use it, but you can find more with Google.
 
I did Google it; actually I Googled info on the specific church that used to be on my street.

I found out they relocated years ago, and the pic of the new church on their website is similar.

Its not a Celtic cross, but is similar in that it has the circle in the center.

Any idea what the circle means? I always wondered, and when I’d ask my Mom, she evidently didn’t know either because she told me, “It means its a protestant church”. 🤷
