I sent an email to the pastor and I asked for the Extraordinary Form of the Mass which bible version is recommended. I’ll copy his email on here and based on what he is saying, is he saying the NAB, or RSV/CE, or JB bible versions are recommended and not the D-R version?
Theofficialversion of Sacred Scripture remains the Vulgate so vernacular translations are most helpful.*
Douay-Rheims is the version of Sacred Scripture used as the standard translation for the Liturgical Texts of the 1962 Missal. There are other approved versions for liturgical use, the NAB, RSV/CE, and JB.
For study purposes, the*NAB, RSV/CE, and JB work well, maybe better than Douay-Rheims as D-R reflects 17th C English structure and some words no longer used in contemporary English. *For proclamation, as most who attend the EF/TLM Mass are used to hearing D-R or use hand missals that have the D-R text, the D-R makes more sense. The 1962 Roman Missal also follows a single cycle of annual readings whereas the Roman Missal of 2000 employs a 3 - year cycle of readings for Solemnities (Sundays, Holydays) with a 2-yearcycle for weekday Masses. *This makes using anything other than the D-R from a hand-missal or hand-out daunting at least.
We print the EF readings for Sundays in the parish bulletin and have books (Sunday’s Word) with the liturgical texts from the 2000 Missal in the pews.
I hope this is useful. *Feel free to ask any other questions.
A Blessed Easter be yours.
