What does this mean?

“The bodies of all mankind, at the last judgment, will be brought back and united again to the soul.”

Does that mean reincarnated? Our body will be back with our soul. We will be a person again?

1Co 15:49 Just as we have borne the likeness of the man who was made from dust, we will also bear the likeness of the man from heaven.
1Co 15:50 Brothers, this is what I mean: Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, and what decays cannot inherit what does not decay.
1Co 15:51 Let me tell you a secret. Not all of us will die, but all of us will be changed-
1Co 15:52 in a moment, in the blinking of an eye, at the sound of the last trumpet. Indeed, that trumpet will sound, and then the dead will be raised never to decay, and we will be changed.
1Co 15:53 For what is decaying must put on what cannot decay, and what is dying must put on what cannot die.

When the last trumpet sounds (The last of the Seven in Revelations) the world is ended. The dead shall be raised to Judgment, as well as the living - and those who are found worthy will receive a new Body, incorruptible as it says. Our body and our Soul will be reunited. Until that time, only our Soul is in Heaven (Or Purgatory, or Hell).

This is also the best argument against the whole Rapture ‘Theology’

Rev 11:15 When the seventh angel blew his trumpet, there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will rule forever and ever.”

States quite clearly, in both texts, that that is the END. Not that we are escaping anything - it is the END.

When we die our soul will go to either Heaven or Hell while our bodies decompose. But when Jesus comes again at the 2nd coming He will raise our bodies and put our souls back into them. Our bodies will be glorified, they will be like the body that Jesus had after He rose from the dead.

For those who die out of the state of grace their souls go to Hades which is a place of torment to the soul, while those who die in the state of grace, their souls will either go the Heaven right after death or their soul will go the Purgatory to get cleaned up for Heaven. But at the 2nd coming of Christ, the souls of everyone will be united back with their bodies, and those who are unsaved will be cast body and soul into Hell/Lake of Fire, while those who are saved will unite with their glorified bodies forever.

NO! There is no reincarnation. Such a belief is incompatible with Christianity.

CCC 1013 Death is the end of man’s earthly pilgrimage, of the time of grace and mercy which God offers him so as to work out his earthly life in keeping with the divine plan, and to decide his ultimate destiny. When “the single course of our earthly life” is completed,we shall not return to other earthly lives: “It is appointed for men to die once.” There is no “reincarnation” after death.

Reincarnation is not the same thing as resurrection.

Believers in reincarnation think that their soul will come back in a new body - any kind of body. Dog, worm, fly, human, lion… This goes on until they perfect themselves, at which time their soul is no longer reincarnated.

We Christians know that we only have one life on earth; when we die, our bodies remain here, while our souls are judged by Jesus and go to Hell, or Heaven, by way of Purgatory. At the 2nd Coming, our souls will be reunited with our bodies. If our souls are in Purgatory or Heaven, our bodies will be glorified. If our souls are in hell, we just get our old one back.

Another good reason to aim for Heaven; I don’t want this achy, tired, sad old body for eternity!

I remember being told as a child that Catholics believed that if your arm was amputated and was not buried with you then you would not have that arm in heaven. Can I safely assume this is wrong?

Very very wrong! Only our souls will enter Heaven until the 2nd coming of Christ, but when He comes our bodies will be glorified, perfect in every way! No matter how a person dies, whether they are chopped into a million peices and then scatteed throughout the world, when they rise from the dead they will be all together in a glorified state of being. God just happens to have the power to do that!
