The whole Mormon theology. The New Testament was written over a thousand years before the Book of Mormon and everything contradicts stuff in the New Testament. For example, we knew a thousand years ago that Jesus DID NOT GO TO AMERICA. The fact that this is brought up at all, even after archaeological evidence proves that all these nephite tribes and whatnot DID NOT EXIST in America is ridiculous. You can’t have faith in something that has already been proven by science to not be true. I see Mormons as being no different from organizations such as the Flat Earth society, who dismiss pictures of the earth that clearly show it as a sphere and continue to believe that it is indeed flat. Look at all the anachronisms in the book of Mormon, such as the use of iron in America long before Columbus arrived. It doesn’t make any sense. I mean, after over a thousand years of existing Christian theology, how do you decide all of the sudden that God physically lives on another planet? You can’t contradict the existing theology of one faith and than claim yours to be true. I am seriously worried for Mormons and ideally I’d like to see them all convert to Catholicism. Anyways, what do you guys think about this?

Since you ask, I think very highly of Mormonism and could be Mormon before any other Protestant sect. I get weary of defending this position to Catholics. Why Catholics think a Lutheran or Presbyterian Reformation is more sensible than a Mormon Restoration, I do not comprehend. It doesn’t matter. Be Catholic and lets forget about the heretics.

I think Mormons believe Jesus went to America after his ascension. They would probably claim that the Bible doesn’t strictly rule out this possibility. I don’t agree with their doctrines, I’m just suggesting what they might say.

People can believe unreasonable things. You mentioned the Flat Earth Society.

BTW…something to think about on proof of the Nephite tribes. While in Kansas…Dodge City to be exact…there on display at the musem was a picture of a woman. THe caption read " A Nephite Woman". Why would a musem not run by the church, in the middle of no where have that. It 's just a thought.

The beliefs of the Mormons are very odd indeed. You cannot compare the ravings of Smith with the rebelious Luther. Luther at least kept Jesus and the Bible and not a fictional angel.

• One core belief of the Mormons is that God was once a man who was enlightened enough to become a god in his own right. (The missionaries will not tell you this when they come to your door because they know this is blasphemy for Catholic and Protestant alike and they will lose you right away. But every one of them, at least the men, will become gods in their own universe.
• Another belief is that Jesus and Satan are brothers and Satan became evil because the plan of Jesus was picked over his.

I feel more of a kin to Jack Chic and his creepy anti Catholic comic books then to Smith and his Mormon theology that constantly contradicts itself and just for the record I think friend Jack Chic is a nutcase of the highest order who isn’t bothered by stretching the truth a bit here and there and lives in the land of the Cuckoo Bird.

The Book of Mormon is advertised as “another Gospel of the Christ.” It was said to have been delivered by an angel whose name was (if I remember correctly) Moroni. The Apostle Paul deals with false Gospels in Galatians, Chapter 1 verses 6 to 9

*I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and turning to a different gospel-- 7 not that there is another gospel, but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, If any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be accursed. **

Bottom line: The Mormons are NOT Christian, never have been, never will be. They have a nice choir, I will give them that. As for the Book of Mormon, I would not use it to prop up a table with a short leg.
