What drives me crazy in Church

is people who bring their cell phones into the Church, leave them on and sometimes even talk on them. I’d like to say that it’s only kids who do this but that would be incorrect.

I understand that if you have children at home, or if you’re a doctor or even ANY Emergency response person that you may have to bring your phone with you, but to actually talk on the phone while at Mass, or at any service is just rude and distracting.

I want to tell the person to just STOP, but then I’d be picking a fight in Church and that’s not right either.
 
I too agree that talking on your phone during mass is just wrong. I leave everything in my car. just bring the car keys lol thats it so I dont accidentally forget to turn something off.
 
The first thing that is announced in my church before Mass is for people to turn their cell phones and electronic devices off. Doesn’t really work though, because you still get phones going off from time to time.
 
Many people have either forgotten or were never properly taught exactly WHY we are in Church. Somewhere along the line (over the past 40 years) the purpose of our presence there has been misconstrued to be all about the bodies in the pews or “*Who’s Who In Church Today” *rather than the Divine Presence of the Son of God, Who will for our salvation once again be sacrificed to His Father during the Consecration of the Host into His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. People wish for miracles! One occurred during this Holy Mystery every day, around the globe, and remains present in the Tabernacle to be visited, or even Exposed for Adoration, and we blind, hapless creatures either don’t know it, don’t believe it, or don’t remember it.

I’d turn to whoever was talking on the phone or talking to someone next to them before, during, or after the Mass while inside the Church (not the Vestibule), and say “Unless you are having a direct conversation with The Father, The Son, or The Holy Spirit, please allow me to perform my Worship in peace. But if you are indeed speaking to One or More Persons of the Trinity, say ‘hi’ for me too”. Seriously. I look at it as part of the commitment made during Confirmation to defend and protect the One, True, Apostolic Faith.
 
I don’t like cell phones in church, either.

I turn mine off-it’s off most of the time, anyway. But I forgot to do it last month at Mass, and so I hear it ‘humming’ on vibrate. I couldn’t bend down and open my purse to turn it off right then and there. 😛

So it stays off!
 
You know you’ve really seen it all when it’s the Priest’s cell phone that’s ringing during Mass. True story. :eek:
 
We used to have adult altar servers for weekday funerals. On one such day, the older server left his phone on. It rang and the poor guy could not get to it through the alb. To make it worse, 60 seconds later it gave off a different ring telling him he had a message.

I’ve seen it before too :(. I usually turn my cellphone to silent while I’m at Mass. I don’t understand why people don’t do that. When one goes to the theatre, they have psa’s asking the people to turn off their cellphones. Its not that difficult to do.
 
It is so embarrasing and the wretched thing sounds so LOUD as well. I usually leave the thing at home for that reason because I do forget to turn it off.

I truely loathe the winter lurgies…where the congregation, sneezes, SNIFFS, coughs and splutters through the Mass, not much one can do about that though:p
 
Cell phones drive me crazy in church. Not the time and place for distractions. I feel the same about it outside church in prayer as well.
I was leading a reflection prayer before adoration and my partner told me she would just use her cell phone to read her part and I’m like…“No.”
Cell phones are inherently a distraction, it takes you out of the moment is it’s primary intent.
 
I hate it when when people are waaaaaay to noisy in Church. I think my school cafeteria is more quieter than how my Church is before and after mass (I’m speaking in exaggeration btw)
I also hate it when woman come in inappropriate attire. Seriously compare how people (woman mostly) have come dressed to church now and all the way back in the 50’s and 60’s.

Whenever I go to church for mass at ANY day of the week, I dress in ‘conservative clothing’

I really feel comfortable in this, I really dont see why others dont.
