I attended confession today, and prayed for the Popes intentions.

What else must I do? Also what does it mean to be ‘detached’ from VENIAL sin, is that even possible? How can I ‘remove’ VENIAL sin? I feel like if I already venially sinned I ruined it.

Thanks and blessings

receive Holy Communion. pray the Devine Mercy Chaplet…some Parishes like mine…have a fantastic prayerful day planned culminating with Mass and the Chaplet…

I’ve posted this a couple of times but I hope posting it again may help you.

*And so the Supreme Pontiff, motivated by an ardent desire to foster in Christians this devotion to Divine Mercy as much as possible in the hope of offering great spiritual fruit to the faithful, in the Audience granted on 13 June 2002, to those Responsible for the Apostolic Penitentiary, granted the following Indulgences:

a plenary indulgence, granted under the usual conditions (sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and prayer for the intentions of Supreme Pontiff) to the faithful who, on the Second Sunday of Easter or Divine Mercy Sunday, in any church or chapel, in a spirit that is completely detached from the affection for a sin, even a venial sin, take part in the prayers and devotions held in honour of Divine Mercy, or who, in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament exposed or reserved in the tabernacle, recite the Our Father and the Creed, adding a devout prayer to the merciful Lord Jesus (e.g. Merciful Jesus, I trust in you!");

A partial indulgence, granted to the faithful who, at least with a contrite heart, pray to the merciful Lord Jesus a legitimately approved invocation.*

As you can see, it says “in a spirit that is completely detached from the affection for a sin, even a venial sin,” meaning that you try to stay away from and dislike all sin in general. It doesn’t say 'don’t commit venial sin or you won’t get the indulgence." Don’t worry too much if you committed a venial sin. Entrust in the Mercy of Jesus Christ.

Does Confession have to be right on Divine Mercy Sunday for the indulgence? I went on Friday.

It doesn’t have to be on Sunday. The explanation on EWTN radio was that it extends for 14 days, from the start of the Novena on Good Friday.

Just came back from a beautiful Divine Mercy liturgy. Confession, exposition, benediction, recitation (chanted) of the chaplet. There was also a relic of St Faustina that we could venerate. I love my parish! 😃

Any chance you’re from Kellyville, Australia?

I didn’t know that…wonderful!!! DH and I went to confession on Good Friday, and prayed the chaplet during our holy hour at the Adoration Chapel this afternoon. Thanks for sharing this.

Nope. I’ve never even been to Australia. But, I do hope your parish is as wonderful as mine!
I’m sure it was wonderful everywhere 🙂

The parish of Kellyville did like a little pilgrimage around the block of the church. Our parish priest held the Body of Christ in a monstrance while a couple men carried a statue of Divine Mercy Jesus, and the parishioners walked behind them. We were chanting prayers and hymns… it was beautiful indeed.

You are so very fortunate. Many of us are not. :o

You an still get a partial indulgence if you do not fulfill all of the requirements? The only thing I haven’t done is go to confession. It is not readily available in my parish, and I cannot get elsewhere to do so.

Yes you do 🙂
