It is the Holy Word of God and is respected so much that we read it several times each day at Mass. It must be never misinterpreted and it should be preserved.

All 73 books should be honored and revered as the Word of God, Catholics have guarded the Bible since the Church compiled it about 1700 years ago, even going so far as burning bad copies and versions that distorted the Holy Word of God.

Edit:
I think there are two threads on this and there is an official response on the other thread. This thread should be closed as it is a duplicate.

Read it, know it, love it, but don’t worship it, or transform it into your own personal religion. It’s part of the whole. It’s one of three religious authorities – scripture, the magisterium, tradition. Actually, scripture is a *by-product *of Catholic tradition. IMO, the role of the Bible is the single biggest point of contention between Protestantism and Catholicism. Many, many Protestants actually worship the Bible, instead of God. 😦

The bible is the inerrant word of God. The bible contains no errors in any of its parts…none.

No, it doesn’t. BUT…part of the ‘inerrant truth’ you’re alluding to is the folly of Man. And yes – it definitely exposes that. In other words, many of the actions depicted in the Bible on the part of supposedly ‘holy’ people were immoral, and quite the opposite of what Christians should do. First and foremost is the genocide and ethnic cleansing promoted by the Old Testament. Christians don’t do that. They have, unfortunately, but shouldn’t have, and definitely shouldn’t ever do them again.

True…many things that were done as recorded in the bible were immoral. But we have to accept that at times God commanded his people to kill others because of their sins.
