What exactly happens after the Second Coming?

This is what confuses me.

From when I was a Protestant, I learned that God would destroy the Universe, make a new Heaven (probably Universe, not His “Realm”) and a new Earth. Then, those who are in Heaven after the destruction of the Universe will then be given new bodies and dwell on Earth.

…That’s about it.

How will this life be? Will there be marriage? Will it be like a worldwide Garden of Eden? Will everyone know each other? Will everyone be able to take a trip to XYZ and see God daily, or will everyone on this new Earth enjoy 24/7 Beatific Vision of the Glory of the Lord? What are the details?

Furthermore, what happens during the Resurrection? Do we all get united with our dead bodies (which are now brought back to life) and line up to be Judged by God the Son Himself? How are the cremated whose ashes are spread out everywhere be resurrected? After this, is purgatory emptied and all are sent to either Heaven or Hell? Do those who go to Heaven live there with their souls in a new body until God creates the new Earth?

Basically, what happens after Christ comes in Glory again and Armageddon begins? I need the rundown on this.

We don’t know much, but we do know that our own bodies will be resurrected (Jesus had his same body. Mary’s body is already taken to Heaven - we’ll be returned to ours at the Second Coming). Our bodies will not be recognizable as we understand them now but will have abilities beyond what is now natural (witness how Resurrected Jesus was able to enter locked rooms and remain unrecognized until the time He willed).

We will not marry (our marriages of this life would be dissolved by death).[BIBLEDRB]Mark 12:25[/BIBLEDRB]We’ll still be male and female, I think, but that won’t mean the same thing post-resurrection.

Beyond, that, I think we are free to speculate. We should not get hung up on the details.

I can’t imagine some kind of line to Judgment. I suppose such waiting would be like Purgatory in itself (all that anxiety of waiting to know).

i don’t know if God will destory the universe but he will make a new heaven and earth. I think thats up to your own interpretation idk what the church teaches
How will this life be?
impossible to explain in our own terms
Will there be marriage?
yes but the marriage of the lamb and the church not the marriage as we know it today
Will it be like a worldwide Garden of Eden?
probably just no tree of knowledge no possibility for us to fall to sin
Will everyone know each other?
probably
or will everyone on this new Earth enjoy 24/7 Beatific Vision of the Glory of the Lord?
this

pretty much we will be in perfect communion with the triune god no limitations from sin.

we will get our bodies back

as the apostles creed I believe in … the resurrection of the body. We know that Christ was taken to haven body and soul so we know that we as well will be taken to heaven body and soul.
How are the cremated whose ashes are spread out everywhere be resurrected?
im not really sure, i would imagine they would reunited to their bodies but this is interesting
After this, is purgatory emptied and all are sent to either Heaven or Hell?
everyone in purgatory is destined for heaven, if your destined for hell its pointless to spend time in purgatory becuase you don’t need to be pure to reach hell.
Do those who go to Heaven live there with their souls in a new body until God creates the new Earth?
not real sure but i think we will get the bodies that we have now, God’s creation is perfect so to say that our bodies aren’t perfect and we get a new “perfect” body once we reach heaven doesn’t make since. I believe for God to be perfect we must be reunited with our bodies in heaven.

the marriage of the lamb mainly along with some of the things i described above

Note: don’t take this as church teaching i tried to explain things as best as I could in the little amount of time I have. I think im on with most things at least in general

As for the bodies, we are all given new transfigured bodies meant for heaven. The body you are ‘wearing’ is meant for this present earth. Your new body will be perfect, as will be your soul. You consist of a body and soul, and you will be made perfect - i.e. both your body and soul will be perfect.

My understanding is that both those headed to heaven and those headed to hell after the judgment, first receive their transfigured bodies and then are all gathered before Jesus at the General Judgment… But those who go to hell, their bodies get transformed by the fire of hell into something hideous.

We will be forever happy in heaven living with others and God will dwell amongst us too, but not too many details are known. Jesus will judge everyone together in what Catholics call the General Judgment (we are all individually judged when we die - this is the Particular Judgment). There is no marriage - Jesus said so in the Gospels.

The final battle between Church and anit-Church, or Christ and anti-Christ will be fought BEFORE Jesus comes again.

The sequence I believe goes:
Satan loosed from hell one last time to try to destroy the Church (battle of Church/anti-Church or Armageddon).
Makes great headway, but loses and fire comes down from heaven and consume him and all his supporters. This fire remakes the earth (new heaven and new earth) and remakes all those alive within it who are worthy or have repented. (They get their transfigured bodies.) The unworthy are seized and cast into hell, their bodies burned to ashes.

Jesus descends. All the dead rise and receive transfigured bodies. Then all are judged. Those who love God (i.e. do His will) find themselves in heaven with Jesus, the rest go to hell, where theire transfigured bodies get transformed into something hideous by the fires of hell.

Those in heaven on earth are in a new Eden, a pure and immaculate world perfect, joyous, surrounded by loved ones and also with Christ.

This is based on their interpretation of Revelation, but you’ll notice that nowhere does it say the Universe is destroyed. It says that TIME will end. Time causes the eventual decay and destruction of all things. God is a creator, not a destroyer. He cleanses and restores things but does not destroy them. Satan is the one who destroys, and according to the book of Wisdom he made death. So when the bible says a new heaven and a new earth, it means that the old corruptible universe will be gone and all things will be restored to how God originally intended it to be- everlasting/eternal. We were not made to die and the universe was not made to be destroyed.
The only thing we know for certain is that there will be no marriage. Jesus himself said that as others have pointed out. We know that our bodies will be perfect, and we will be made indestructible and incorruptible like the angels. We will not hunger, thirst, feel pain, grow tired, get sick, or die. We will be able to go wherever we want in an instant. We will have perfect bodies. That means those who died with missing limbs will have their limbs restored (even if they were born without them). There will be no disease at all. No sadness. Those who did not go into hell will all be happy for all eternity.
It will happen in an instant. In a blink of the eye. Your body which was destroyed in death will return to life, perfect in every way and your spirit will return to it. You were created to have a physical body and to always have this body. You were not created to be separated from it, but because of sin you are. When you return there is a final judgment and all who are evil go into Hell for eternity along with Satan and all the fallen angels so that they can never again cause harm. As for the cremated they will be resurrected just the same as the buried. Nothing is impossible with God. At the end of time there will be 2 places. Heaven and Hell. Heaven will be upon earth-- the old earth (this earth) will be no more. There will be no Purgatory because there will be no more death and no more sin.
