What exactly is the "Mark of the Beast"?

By the way, Rev. 13:18 tells us that the number of the beast is 666. This number fits Nero using the Aramaic alphabet. Here is how it works:

Now that is some very interesting information and kind of confirms what I had previously thought.
 
Here is the Catechism of the Catholic Church about the great tribulation which the Church will go through before Christ returns:

As you can see, it does not mention anything about the “Mark of the Beast”. This leads me to believe that the “Mark of the Beast” was a historical thing such as the thing with Nero requiring people to worship him.
 
Well in order to understand what the Mark of the Beast, or Character of the Beast is, you have to know what is the beast who’s wound was healed to do great wonders around the world.
What entity was bound for ruin, death? …Wall Street…No one can buy, sell or trade unless you bear the mark, or have it’s character.
 
REV.14 [9] And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,[10] The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

It appears quite clear. It will be a literal mark or number. I won’t go into the details but materials science is moving at a very rapid rate. This has nothing to do with a card of any kind.

However, do not be anxious. In the late 1970s, a book was widely circulated among non-Catholic Christians and I got a copy. Among other things, the book claims to prove there will be no money in the future, and that Social Security checks had been printed and are sitting, without the name filled in, in storage. The ‘logic’ being that paper prices were going up and it would cheaper to store, for years. The book also claims that on the back of each check are the words: “This check cannot be negotiated without the proper mark on the hand or forehead.”

Satan’s primary weapon is deception.
