What fashions would you like to see go or stay out of style?

OK, I could make a list 2 pages long, although I will leave it to just a few so others can share in the fun.

Fuzzy night slippers in public - I really thought this one had gone out, although every time I go to a certain discount store I see them. Even last night when it was snowing out

Words on bottom - Again, I thought this went out, sorry to any of the parents that allow this, but I just can’t see letting a pre-teen/teen girl out of the house with words on her bottom

SPANDEX:eek: It is just wrong!!!

Low riding pant! Please, I’m glad you have underwear on, but I don’t need to see it. Guess I should just be happy they are wearing underwear:eek:

Girls, young and not so young, that are a little on the heavy side, wearing shirts that are not big enough and everything is hanging out the bottom of the shirt. Only made worse by the wearing of low riding pants. It’s a scary world out there. Body parts just popping out everywhere:eek:

Tee-shirts with snotty sayings on them. My niece has one that says “your boyfriend is checking me out”. Very cute

Have to agree with the extreme low rider pants. They do not flatter any* body*! Even if you are a size smaller than zero it only points out that you have no shape. If you are bigger than a zero it magnifies whatever shape you have into something so unattractive.

I actually just saw an ad somewhere for some sort of low rider jean that was cut to LOOK like the girl’s thong was poking out the top but it was all one piece of material. VERY inappropriate and looked gross. And I am not a prude, I tend to like some “sexy” styles that some would find immodest…but this crossed WAY over any type of line!

Oh…I like this thread…

I agree with the words on people’s bottoms. Nothing is cuter than seeing a girl in pink pants with the word “Sexy” on her bum, go up to receive communion!

Also, the baggy, baggy pants that for some reason teenage boys have been wearing for almost a decade…

Really low waisted pants on girls, paired with tummy bearing shirts and short little puffy jackets…“Aren’t you cold in that outfit?”

And, even though they haven’t been in style for more then 15 years, acid washed, pleated jeans. Sometimes, men take them out of the closet, and wear the in public. No, they weren’t attractive then, they aren’t attractive now, wives do your husbands the charitable favor of getting rid of them,

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks for that…I thought acid wash pleated jeans were bad enough on girls…but on men??? Scary scary scary. Oh, and why oh why do they HAVE to be paired with glowing white running shoes???

I’ve seen high-waisted jeans in a trendy teen shop recently:

You think they would help hide a little bit of the postpartum tummy? I thought about trying on a pair or two when I go clothes shopping with my husband.

It would be great if these were the new rage.
What about people who are on the phone at all available moments.
Ugh. I hate cell phones, and this is one of the reasons why.

I also dislike seeing 5 and 6 year old girls wandering around with a cell phone attached to their ear.

high waisted jeans are scary too. How old do we have to be before we HAVE to get a pair? It seems like all mommys at some point end up with jeans that go almost to their boobs. I’m going to stay out of that club as long as I can, I don’t care what all they hide and suck in!

Whats with these sweatshirts teens are wearing now? I’m fairly young and not that far away from my teenage years but those sweatshirts with crazy patterns in neon colors make me want to have a seizure!

I also can’t stand the tunic legging trend…some of us should NOT cram our thighs into skin tight leggings that show all of our cellulite. If you have to suck in and jump around the room to get it halfway up your legs chances are you shouldn’t wear it out 🙂

Now jeans that sit at your waist are called “high waisted?”

I’ve been out of style for years, because, sily me, I like my pants on my waist. I wear what is comfortable and doesn’t exacerbate my figure flaws. I could care less about my coolness quotient. Bring on the mom jeans, cuz I am one and I ain’t in this to look cool to my kids’ snotty classmates.

To answer the original question, I like the tops that cling around the bust and shoulders but are a bit more flowing at the bottom and are longer. Been seeing a lot of those for a couple of seasons now. Those are very forgiving to a mom’s figure but still pretty and appropriate.

No, jeans that sit at your waist are not high waisted. That’s were they are suppose to be. Not way above and most definitely not WAY below. If at the waist is a mom jean now, then I guess I am in that club already:frighten:

Low riding pants for both boys and girls need to go away!!!

Cropped strapped blouses on girls that barely come down to the bottom of the rib cage on girls need to go away!!!

Thong underwear, especially when worn with low riding pants! Ick!

The practice for flashing gang sign for pictures needs to stop!!!

Body piercings need to go away. It’s okay for girls to have their ears pierced. But people piercing their belly buttons, tongues, naughty bits, etc. is just nasty.

This is why I’d like to see more high-waisted pants. 😃 I like to wear jeans at my waist, but since they haven’t been in style recently, I’m stuck wearing my old maternity jeans.

I didn’t realize the jeans I posted above would be almost at the ribcage! Seriously? Great. Another jean that won’t fit me. I have a hard enough time finding jeans with the right proportions.

I LOVE tops like this! Especially when they hit at the hip, and I can wear them while pregnant.

Is this limited to clothing? What about people who are on the phone at all available moments. http://www.clipartof.com/images/emoticons/xsmall2/1245_talking_on_phone.gif
No it can be things like cell phones too. I just thought this would be a fun thread.

If we are talking about the same tops, I like them also, although I don’t wear them because they make me look pregnant, kinda hard when you are infertile to have people asking you if you are pregnant all the time 😦

  1. leggings
  2. Batwing Sweaters and shirts
  3. Showing bra straps
  4. slimline jeans (can’t ever find any that fit)
  5. Super long shirts
  6. Bell shapped dresses
  7. Sweater Dress without a waiste
👍

OK, this one might offend some on here.

I HATE seeing people walking around with the fake designer purses. I really just think it is sad.

ETA: I am not a fan of designer purses either 🤷

Someone told me it was trendy to wear rosaries around the neck? For non-Catholics? 😦

That is why I never ask anyone! I figure if they are and want me to know they will tell me.

See, this is a discipline problem with the school. At my high school, they checked every picture, and if people were flashing signs, the picture would not be published or distributed. Even if that meant there was no 11th grade class photo that year. Or the track team got no pictures that year. When taking the pictures, we would get one warning. If the second attempt also had people trying to flash signs, the school would pack up the photographer and send them off to their next job.

It worked. Real gang bangers don’t usually bother to flash signs in school pix, and the stupid wannabes think they are bad but still want to be in the year book.

Edited to add: I assumed you were talking about kids and school photos, but people do that in lots of different types of pix and when they are “adults.” I agree it should stop… but it would be nice for the gangs to go away altogether, too.

Camisoles as outerwear and not underwear. I think they are fine under t-shirts or sweaters or blazers, but when they are worn alone they look like wearing underwear alone - totally wrong.

Wearing pajama pants outside the house. Since when was it EVER appropriate to go outside the house in your pajamas??!!!:eek:

Sky high spiked heels that are all chewed up on the ends. I’m not even going to say what this reminds me of.
