What fashions would you like to see go or stay out of style?

My dd likes to go out in her pj’s…LOL

The nice thing about today’s pj’s is that they don’t really look like pj’s…they look like comfortable pants, or something.

Something I never cared for…are the chain link belts that mainly women wear. I see they have made a comback, but I dunno…I have worn them, and they just get caught on things…lol I just think they are kinda 80’s-ish. To each’s own, but that’s a style I could kiss goodbye. 🙂

My dd wears different colors of converse shoes…anyone remember when those first came out? I think it’s cute that those made a comeback.

I would like to see kilts become more popular with men. I wear kilts at anytime I am not at work. Most folks that see me all the time are suprised when I am not wearing one. If they become more popular the price may go down. I have 17 kilts & 5 pair of black jeans.

A few more I would like to see go:

-People over 25 who shop at Abercrombie, American Eagle, Hollister, etc…Look around you, if you’re the oldest person in there by a decade quietly exit and never come back.
You need an exception for those of us shopping for our teens.

Ugh, no, no it wouldn’t be great. I’m 5 feet tall and short waisted. I don’t like extreme low-riders, but the mid-rise jeans hit at a comfortable spot on my torso and cover all underpants. Normal- or high-waist jeans cut into my ribs when I sit down. NOT fun. Plus, they’re really unflattering on most women.

I would also love to see these things go away:
  • Pajama pants and slippers in public
  • Pants with writing on the backside
  • Shirts that are at least two sizes too small (yes, you have breasts. How nice for you. How nice that we can also see every flesh bulge on your torso)
  • Those really short skirts that look more like wide belts
  • Leggings worn as pants (no extra butt cover), especially with Ugg boots
  • Ugg boots if the wearer cannot take the trouble to walk properly in them (at least daily I hear someone in the hall behind me making a “schlump, schlump” sound as they walk and I know without turning around that it’s a girl in Ugg boots who can’t be bothered to pick up her feet while walking)
  • Spike-heeled shoes (I swear, I went shopping with a friend the other day, and all I could find in the stores we checked were stiletto heels or Ugg-style boots)
  • Okay, I just really dislike Ugg boots. I’m sure they’re comfortable, but they’re ugly, they make even girls with toothpick legs look like her calves are roughly the size of those found on a small elephant, and why does every single female under the age of 25 on my campus spend the entire school year wearing them? (Although, considering my recent shopping trip, perhaps they don’t have other options.)
I love the high waisted jeans, bootcut, straight legs or even wide legs…Those help the tummy area big time!! I can’t find any though… 😦 wished I was a jr size again!! :*( lol

Wrinkled clothes!!!

I am not one for ironing, although there are sooooo many choices in wrinkle free/resistant clothing!!

I gotta be honest I don’t see that happening anytime soon, ditto on the black jeans they had thier moment in the sun…

OK, you got me. I launched the pajama thing around here in the early '80’s. In 1986 it was getting to be more acceptable. By 1993 no one cared anymore.
I did it because my pj’s were my prettiest things. 🤷 I’m guessing someone thought the same way in one town after another.
Yeah, it’s weird I remember starting the same fad at my school, around 1996-97. It was when the flannel pjs were coming into style. We called them “happy pants” lol.

Although, talking about Ugg boots, made me think of when I was younger (I am really dating myself here) remember Moon Boots??? There were just as ugly, although they were SOOOO warm in the winter, well at least until they sprang a leak, then they were worthless.
I have actually seen the Moon Boots here on campus a couple of times. What is it with undergraduate girls and the latest expensive, hideous trends? Like Vera Bradley handbags. Some of the prints are ok, but most of them look like my grandmother’s couch. Why 20 year old girls would want to carry something that looks like a 70 year old’s knitting bag is beyond me.

I went to an SEC school for undergrad. As you may know Southern women pride themselves on appearance and looking good. 😃 A lot of the sororities would dress up to go to the football games. (Have you ever watched a drunk girl try to stand on bleachers in stiletto heels?) I used to call it the “fashion show” because you could see all the latest hideous trends. I saw a lot of gigantic wide leather belts that looked like something a wrestler would wear (paired with skimpy dresses…not good) and necklaces with Day-Glo colored plastic beads the size of gumballs. 😛

I’m 4’11 and curvy. I LOVE my GAP kids jeans for plus size girls. They’re the only jeans I’ve found that don’t ride too low, hit me in the right spot so I don’t show too much tummy hanging out and are still fashionable. So hopefully they never go out of style

American Eagle sells some nice sweaters as does Hollister and when they have great sells I’ll pick some up. Plus their stuff lasts forever and stays looking new which is important to me.

I have a puffy vest that’s down from Lands End. When its cold out but not super cold for a heavy pea coat its perfect especially if you’ve got a wool sweater underneath

Also, the baggy, baggy pants that for some reason teenage boys have been wearing for almost a decade…
Ain’t that the truth  Since when did slouchy become “well dressed”? 🤷
I can see where you all would have a problem with the “sexy” outfits but… what’s wrong with baggy pants? They feel so loose and comfortable (plus the cargo ones let you carry a lot more stuff :p)

I have to disagree with the poster who thinks menfeet are gross.

I love to see men in sandals with chinos and a crisp buttondown. Think early-MacGyver 😉

A couple years ago I had to specify to my students, that when they gave their big presentations, I would downgrade them if I saw upper or lower cleavage. When I was in college, I don’t think we even imagined lower cleavage!

I also hate strappy tank tops with bra straps showing. Don’t they make strapless bras anymore? These, paired with short shorts, seem to be the harbinger of Spring around here. Flattering to very few. . .

The issue is not with baggy pants. Most guys can pull off the baggy look very well…love cargoes on my hubby:thumbsup:. The issue is with the pants SO baggy that the guys have to sort of shuffle to walk because the waistband is balancing precariously on the middle part of their butt, the crotch is down to their knees, and you can see more than half of their underwear.**

**Well, you can disagree with me then too:D

I just don’t like to see men’s feet…blech!!! I cringe anytime I am watching “so you think you can dance” and the guys come out barefoot. Blech:p**

And yes, I dislike my hubby’s feet as well. I think they look like they belong on a corpse:shrug:

OK, so I’m blatantly uncool 😛 but I love my Uggs! Of course, I only wear them when it’s actually cold out.
Of course, I’m too old to care anymore. I’m married with children, and hubby loves me no matter what I wear. And I put up with what ever he wears. 😉 😃

As for what I want gone–anything that shows way too much skin. What I want to come back in style–basic modesty. And kilts! 👍☘️ I’d get one for DH (he wants one badly), but they’re so danged expensive!!
