What fashions would you like to see go or stay out of style?

So they call it fluoro now. I kind of missed it for the last 24-odd years. Of course, when a fashion goes retro it’s exaggerated, adn to exagerate the “neon look” as it was in the early-mid-'80’s would hurt the eyes. It was in its turn an exaggerated version of the '60’s Da-Glo style, which was hard on the eyes too. So in the 2020’s sometime it may come back in a form that will be literally blinding and people will have to wear eye protectors outdoors I assume.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Ain’t it the truth!!!

Does anybody else remember the prairie skirt era? I loved them!!!

Stirrup pants. I still see them. Are these even made anymore or are they leftovers from the 90s?

Sooooo, a lot of you said you’d like to see more nice hats on men. Well, I found the PERFECT Christmas present for my DH:
hatsinthebelfry.com/product/nyh-standby-5319-gift-set.html

A nice wool fedora - could anything be classier? (I know he never comes on CAF so I feel safe showing this 😃 ) They have nice ladies’ hats too, a bit pricey but quite appropriate for Mass.

Tee-shirts with snotty sayings on them. My niece has one that says “your boyfriend is checking me out”. Very cute
yes! I don’t understand why anyone would want to wear something like that
  1. Super long shirts
at least they cover up the low cut jeans 🤷

here’s my list:

-tight pants/skinny jeans/whatever you want to call them. Not a fan.
-eye liner on guys. srsly how is that supposed to be attractive?
-bikini’s. It is impossible to find a decent looking modest bathing suit these days.
-all things hollister
-drawing on your skin
-the use of the terms “retarded”, “gay”, and the like
-those blow up decorations people stick in their front yard
-taxidermy moose heads
-political correctness

Yeah. I think I spent the entire 96-97 winter in giant J. Crew sweaters, the entire 97-98 winter in a red polar fleece pullover, all the while wearing old jeans and Doc Martens with thick, ugly socks. At least my underwear was covered.
I was an undergrad in the early to mid 90s and I wore plaid flannel shirts tied around my waist (aka butt sweaters) Levis 501s and Doc Martens as my everyday “uniform”. May have looked completely grungy but definitely kept me warm and in no danger of flashing anyone!

I was in high school at that time and swiped my dad’s flannel shirts for school wear. 😃

Nothing better than a huge flannel shirt and jeans! So comfy…of course we all looked like bumbs, but hey we were warm and fuzzy and soft:D

My favorite 1940’s fashion:
Fedoras
Unfavorite 40’s:
Giant separated coils of hair.
Fave 50’s:
Spit curls
Unfave 50’s:
The wasp waist
Fave 60’s:
Mohair
Unfave 60’s:
Beehive
Fave 70’s:
Long cardies
Unfave 70’s:
Deep V-necks
Fave 80’s:
Pegged black jeans
Unfave 80’s:
High school jackets
Fave 90’s:
Bun (on women only) and mother-of-pearl hairsticks
Unfave 90’s:
Body modification and multiple piercings

High heels.

I’m not a feminist, but I feel that these shoes degrade women by making it impossible for them to walk normally or run should the need arise. A woman wearing high heels walks like a cow, mincing along on her toes instead of on the bottoms of the feet. High heels are dangerous and bad for the body because they throw everything out of alignment, not to mention that they’re bad for the feet. No one’s feet come to a shart point in the toe area. That’s just not human.

Men don’t wear high heels, and women shouldn’t either.

There are “high heels” that are podiatrist-approved–why don’t women who must wear heels wear these?

mm…i love my stilettos!!
it gives me height and makes me look thinner…thats the only purpose in wearing heels for me!!
and i only ever wear them to parties or for clubbing!! other than that…i like wearing my flats or sneakers!
you cant have beauty without pain!!! lolz…

Belly shirts, spaghetti straps (except when something is covering those), pants below waist and showing underwear, goth fashions, bright neon colored spandex.

Those are just a few…

Square nails with a straight line across them separating two contrasting colors.
I second the loathing of high heels and pointy toes.
Strappy sandals with painted toenails.
Polyester.
Spaghetti straps. They are a pain device similar to pointy toes in summer and what’s the point of them in the other seasons?

I’d rather be able to walk:D

Anyway, I saw a picture of noted stiletto wearer Victoria Beckham’s feet. Bunions, hammertoes, corns and calluses are not pretty.

A few years ago I hurt my back and lost feeling in part of my left leg… never got feeling back. I will trip and fall flat on my face everytime I wear flats on low loop carpet. Now stilettos… no prob, I can walk much better in them.

To each her own, for sure. I tend to have foot problems if I wear flats. I’m most comfortable in shoes that have between a 1 and 3 inch heel. I’m wearing 2-inch chunky heels right now and they’re terrific.

Me too - I get horrible foot pain in totally flat shoes if I wear them for too long. Even a kitten heel helps. Besides, you just can’t wear flat shoes with everything without looking like a total country bumpkin.

Now - stilettos (4+ inches that are thin as a pencil) are a bit much, but a tasteful 3 inch heel is always a good look - PROVIDED the woman can walk in them properly.

If you can’t walk in them, don’t wear them. EVER. But for women who know how to walk gracefully in heels, then I see no problem with them whatsoever, and they often look much more polished and professional than flats. Blech!! 😛
