If I am remembering correctly, a fixed month/date designation is not always what is used to determine the time of certain feasts or fasts in the liturgical calandar. When and how are other methods used?

Thanks

For instance, Easter occurs on the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring.
So that date affects Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Ascension Thursday and Pentecost

It seems to me feasts are set in three ways.

There are those tied to a date such as St Joseph, 19th March.

A range of feasts not tied to a date such as Feast of the Holy Family and Most Holy Trinity. These are on the Sunday in the Christmas Octave and the Sunday after Pentecost, respectively.

Then there are those whose celebration revolve around Easter which varies from year to year such as Ash Wednesday.
