Thanks @Shakuhachi, do love the sound of all kinds of water.

I love Irish and Scottish folk music, particularly the sad songs, probably because I was Irish or Scottish in a former life.

Really? I have never understood that at all, but I know a lot of people find it funny 🙃

wow.

Two days, an noone has suggested blowing something up!

🤣 😱

what is wrong with you people?
🤔 😁

Yes it did 🙂 We had a two-person Motown Conga line. :dancer:t2:I was really in a lot of turmoil, because I had just gotten some discouraging news, and was not much fun to be around. It wouldn’t necessarily have mattered that much, but we were on an overnight, so I didn’t want to ruin a fun getaway. So thanks!

You sound like my husband who just for fun made an incendiary device out of a doorknob and blew up a piece of an unnamed quad at an unnamed university in an unnamed state. This was during the late 60’s and it got blamed on Vietnam war protesters. My then boy next door type boyfriend who would be voluntarily joining the U.S. Army shortly didn’t dissuade that belief. He did this on a weekend when the quad was not occupied with students. He had black powder because he had built a black powder rifle to go hunting. Makes me wonder what you have blown up!

How about BEER BARREL POLKA. It’s rousing and fun. Also, the REDETZKY MARCH (not sure I spelled that correctly). It’s on of Strauss’s more lively works.

I love Viennese Waltzes, and Strauss is my favorite. Gets inside the body and moves you whether you want to or not.

Yes! Let’s “Roll Out the Barrel” and polka. Sure way to reach your aerobic target HR. Except when you are in your 70’s it doesn’t take as much to raise your heart’s BPM. Better do it soon @JanR!! My husband’s family was of Polish/Eastern European descent and family gatherings usually included rolling back the rug for a good Polka fest. That along with pierogies, beer and harmonica music would definitely elevate our mood.

I am just discovering Stoicism. I never really plunged into it but it did have a big influence on Christianity ad I think taking it more serious can help us cope with the challenges of life.
"It’s a philosophy designed to make us more resilient, happier, more virtuous and more wise–and as a result, better people, better parents and better professionals. "

Looking at holiday decorations at the new Hobby Lobby that opened at our mall over the weekend.

Did you know the polka and accordion had a big influence in the music of Mexico? I believe during the 1800’s or early 1900’s.

I have never been arrested for blowing anythng up . . . unlike a college friend, who mixed up a small quantity of contact explosive when the dorm was still noisy still after midnight when he had a test in the morning . . . and applied it to the RA’s lock . . .

The RA was a, well never mind, but his overreaction was to call campus security, who, eager for a crime to be associated with, called the fire department, who arrested him.

He was charged with multiple felonies, and the PD urged him to take a deal. His parents then hired a real defense lawyer, who told the DA to try the case or drop it; no deal coming.

The charges were dropped.

There was the basic problem with the felonies that they all had an element of intent to cause damage–and he was a high GPA chemistry major who knew exactly how much he was mixing. It was calculated rather precisely to pop a key out a lock . . . so it could be proved beyond a reasonable doubt that he lacked the retired intent.
I am just discovering Stoicism.
I encountered it decades ago.

I hated it–so therefore worked my way through all of it!

What gets me out of a bad mood?

I’ve been in a bad mood for years and soon I will be the envy of Ouiser Boudreaux.

😉

I like watching “Duck Season Wabbit Season” clips on You Tube
