Has anybody ever thought about this? I don’t think I ever did save for last night when it was brought up at a lecture.

For the one or two decades without Paul’s writtings (and we know Paul was the first to write…well, his are the writings known to have survived), what was going on? The only thing the Church had was the Old Testament Writings. It was explained at this lecture that the early Mass was very simple as it was the Lord’s Supper, and then it developed to include Psalms and Old Testament readings from the Temple, THEN, the Apostles started to write their letters and instructions.

FAO: Has anybody thought about what happened in the Church BEFORE Paul et al wrote what they did? Surely the Church didn’t disappear for a decade or two. 😉

Ta muchly!

In those early decades, they were inventing the internet, and printing press machines, and photocopiers etc, so that they could mass produce the bible and preach it to the ends of the world.
