What happens after you receive Communion?

:confused: I heard a brief explanation on the Eucharist that after we receive Communion, that Jesus only remains sacramentally in us for about fifteen minutes. If so, why and what happens after that? Thanks.

Actually, I don’t know. I wonder if the wafer resubstantiates into bread.
 
A similar question was asked on the “Ask An Apologist” forum, and here is the answer from Fr. Serpa:

"Jesus is present in the Eucharist under the appearances of bread and wine only. When the acids in the stomach change the accidents (appearances) of bread and wine and they change into something else, the divine presence leaves.
