I thought of this at daily mass last week. A small elderly EMHC was handing the chalice to a congregant when her hand slipped and the chalice went airborne. A small miracle happened and somehow this 80-some year old lady pulled off an acrobatic move and caught the chalice before it fell. A number of people saw it I guess because I heard the same collective sigh I hear when a crucial save is made during the NHL playoffs. What is the protocol if the chalice spills it’s contents? Is there a special cloth or something to clean it up?

The Blood would be soaked with water & cleaned up with the purificators. The water used is poured down the sacrarium or onto the earth.

That actually happened at our Church awhile back and Fr. took a bottle of alter wine to wipe it up with. God Bless, Memaw
