I went to confession today and it was actually face to face. It was hard but i started by confessing my worse sin but when he talked to kme about it he gave me my penance and absolved me of my sins, i still hadnt got to say my other sins like “i miss church etc.” what happens if the father immediatly gives u penance

are all the other sins i have not confessed forgiven?

Yes, but you will still want to mention your other sins the next time you go to Confession, so that you can receive good counsel for them, as well.

Simply say something like, “I meant to confess these at my last Confession but something happened and they got forgotten,” so that he knows they aren’t new sins.

From the Catechism:
1456:tada: All sins are forgiven as long as no mortal sins are deliberately withheld. If they are deliberately withheld, the confession is made under false pretenses and the absolution is invalid. It is not required to confess venial sins. They are always forgiven in the Sacrament of Penance, even if they are not mentioned. It is a good idea to confess habitual venial sins, but it is not required. You are forgiven all confessed mortal sins, all venial sins, and (any mortal sins you unintentionally forget) to confess. :imsorry:

If you deliberately fail to confess any mortal sins, nothing is forgiven. You are required to confess any mortal sins you remember later at your next confession. If your intention is to confess all of your serious sins, God will know them even if you forget. You are required to confess them later, even if they are already forgiven, so that the priest may offer you spiritual direction and the certainty of forgiveness. :getholy:

👍

They are forgiven, as you did not hold them back intentionally. If you need to make a confession that will take a lot of time, I suggest making an appointment. Even if the priest doesn’t cut you off, you must be considerate if there is a line.

Next time you should say “Father, I have other sins I need to confess”.

ditto.
At my last confession, the priest was counselling me a bit, and as he spoke, it occurred to me another sin that I had recalled in my examination of conscience but had temporarily forgotten to mention. I just politely said “excuse me Father, I recall one more thing I need to confess…” and confessed it. It took no more than another 15 seconds, so I hardly think that had any impact on the people waiting in the Confession lineup…😉
