What happens if wine is added to the Precious Blood?

I asked this in the Liturgy and Sacraments board, but there appears to be no consensus, or even any sources we can readily find to answer the question.

If one were to add wine to the Precious Blood, what happens. Is it some how less Precious Blood per volume, or is the wine “contact consecrated” as some Eastern Churches apparently believe(?), or does it cease to be Precious Blood at all.

First of all, we would never do it. The General Instruction of the Roman Missal states that the priest is to pour only a ”little’ water into the wine at Mass. But should so much water be poured that there is more water than wine in the chalice, there would be no consecration because the liquid would be more water than wine.

As for wine being added to the Eucharist, you do not have wine being mixed with wine; you have wine being mixed with blood.

After the consecration any wine that would be poured into a chalice containing the precious blood, would not by that fact become the blood of Christ. It would still be wine, even though this would not be visible to the eye. It would also be a sacrilegious act. Such casual human interference with the sacrament betrays a lack of respect for the sacred divine reality of His Body and Blood.
