What happens if you forget to confess a mortal sin?

What happens if you forget to confess a mortal sin in confession? This is assuming that if you had remembered it, you would have confessed it.

Separately, if you had finished confession and were leaving the confessional, and then you remembered that you had forgotten to confess a mortal sin, could you just say, “oh yeah, I also did so and so” and have it still be forgiven, or would you have to go to confession again?
