What happens to my Guardian Angel after I die?

The Angel escorts you soul to Heaven and remains there with you. Angels are outside of sex. ‘He’ is a generic term for human form.

Best i can answer is this, Angels are pure spirits, and so do not have physical bodies necessary for gender. It might also be somewhat strange to call a being who guides you to Heaven “It”.

Your Guardian Angel is all yours; he does not go to someone else. If you go to heaven, he goes with you, but there is no need to protect you anymore; if you go to purgatory, he will visit you there.

I was wondering the same thing. I was even more curious that if you go to purgatory, your GA visits but doesn’t stay. So, like do you have to borrow a guest cot and lay in some special victuals or what? Does he have the grace to give you an email or phone call first so you can prepare for the visit?

Precisely. There is no proof. The Church’s teaching on Guardian Angels is very limited - all the Church pretty much says is that every person is assigned a Guardian Angel at the moment of conception. As far as I’m aware, there is no Church teaching on what a Guardian Angel does after a person’s death.

Its an interesting question because the Church teaching does not touch on what happens after we die so whether our guardian angel remains with us after death is speculation. To those who say yes what happens when someone goes to Hell. Does the guardian angel remain with that person?

Dont forget that each of our guardian angels is already enjoying the Beatific Vision; and will continue to enjoy it, regardless of whether his charges soul ends up in Heaven or Hell or (initially) Purgatory. In this life, the angel`s intellect and will are focussed on his charge. Being “only” spirit, the angel is nowhere physically, as already mentioned by HickmanJosh. A spirit is nothing other than intellect and will.

If the soul goes straight to the state of Heaven, there will be a union of knowledge and love between soul and angel, as well, of course, as the Beatific Vision, and all that flows from that.

If the soul goes initially to Purgatory, the guardian angel can focus his intellect and will on the soul to give “it” some comfort.

If the soul goes to Hell, the angels intellect and will cease to focus on that soul: nothing more can be done because the soul is lost forever. im pretty sure we were told once in a sermon that the angel will feel some loss…might be mistaken about that, though…
