What happens to my Guardian Angel after I die?

I went to a talk about angels but haven’t remembered much of it. Look for a book about it from a Catholic. I am pretty sure the woman had written a book.

I do remember she said you can name your angel. She had done that as well as her son. After they named them something happened to confirm that was the right name like the name popped up a lot or something.

Sorry can’t tell you much more. I have never tried that.

Your Guardian Angel is all yours; he does not go to someone else. If you go to heaven, he goes with you, but there is no need to protect you anymore; if you go to purgatory, he will visit you there.

The Church does not teach this.
While everyone has a guardian angel from birth to death neither we nor the Church know if the guardian angels are assigned one on one or to a group of humans.
The Church also does NOT teach that a guardian angel goes with you to Heaven or visits you in Purgatory. That is speculation.

Below is the only Church teaching on guardian angels. Anything else is just speculation.

Does he get assigned to someone else? If someone goes to heaven does his Guardian angel still watch over him? Are angels male or female? When many of the Saints saw their Guardian Angels they would describe the angel as a he. Thanks.

Your angel stays “with” you until you die. After that:
If your soul goes to hell, the angel ceases to give you any more attention, simply because theres nothing more he can do for you. If you choose to reject God, thats your decision. Until the moment you die, your angel can prompt you; but he cant force you: thatd be a violation of your God-given free will.

If your soul goes to purgatory, the angel can help you. If your soul goes to heaven, you`ll be aware of your angel, enjoying the knowledge and love of God.

If you equate “protecting” with affluence, and a full stomach: forget it!
Who do you think are ULTIMATELY better off: the blind Western consumers who are too well off to think of God, and so, lose their souls, or:
the Third World strugglers, and those elsewhere who take their faith seriously, and achieve salvation, often, largely from suffering?

Were you banned for pretending to have knowledge of something not known…or something else?

I was raised atheist. So as a child, I did not have a Guardian angel at the time?

It was not my choice to believe or not believe. I simply did not know any better.

I believe that after your death your Guardian Angel will go to Heaven with you, though he will not have to be your Guardian Angel and protect you any longer. If you go to Purgatory, your Guardian Angel will probably visit you there intermittently to help you. If, God forbid, you were to be damned, your Guardian Angel would part from you and go to heaven. Angels are pure spirit, so they have no gender; however, whenever they appear to men they appear as (very beautiful) males. God bless you.

According to Aquinas, the angels remain with us in Heaven to assist us in our enlightenment.

Reply to Objection 3. Although after the Day of Judgment men will not be led any more to salvation by the ministry of the angels, still those who are already saved will be enlightened through the angelic ministry.

Seems to me, if anyone does, everyone does.

Threads like this annoy me, I must confess…an unanswerable question is posed, and people dive in with responses they assert are actual answers.

Pope Benedict has spoken about his own Guardian Angel! He said that his guardian angel did not prevent him from fracturing his wrist some time ago.
