What happens to someone's guardian angel after they die?

What happens to the guardian angels when a person dies? Do they stay with them still? What about the angels of those people who went to purgatory? Are there souls that just stay here on earth? if so, do their guardian angels stay with them too?

Obviously they cannot go to hell with the people who go there.
