What happens to souls at the end of time who aren't perfect?

The definition of Purgatory includes the words “temporal punishment”. Temporal means “duration of time”. Most assurdly time passes differently in Purgatory - it can be seen as intermediate between the temporal realm (our universe) and the eternal realm of Heaven (Hell is also an eternal realm, but all in Purgatory are on their way to Heaven).

Now… it is quite possible (perhaps even likely) that time passes differently for different people in Purgatory. And as the end times draw near, the fires of Purgatory may burn hotter to speed up Purgation. I believe that at the end times, those who are in Purgatory (and those who would have gone to Purgatory) are cleansed from all sins in a very short Earth-time (but it may seem like ages to them).

Where does.it say Purgatory will.cease at the Apocalypse of the temporary world?
Will the souls who die.on the Last Day not surely enter Purgatory if they are not spotless enough for Heaven yet
We just have to leave that all up to God and we must do all we can to follow His will here on earth while we have “time”. Jesus is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE. TRUST HIM! God Bless, Memaw

However, ‘temporal’ properly means “relating to time” (as opposed to “relating to eternity”). In other words, the eternal punishment due to sin is hell, but the temporal punishment due to sin – that is, the punishment that isn’t eternal – is experienced in purgation. So, it doesn’t necessarily mean “a punishment that can be measured by a clock”, as you seem to be implying here… 😉

So? Counter it with good theology. Enlighten us and tell us what the right perspective is.
I said it was dreadful, not “wrong”. If anyone thinks there is right or wrong theology, they don’t understand what theology is.

I can think it’s dreadful, and you can think it beautiful, but if either of us think the theology we favor is right and the other’s is wrong, we are both fools.

Exampl: I happen to think Franciscan theology is beautiful and Dominican not so much, but it would be uncharitable and presumptuous of me to claim my Dominican brothers are “wrong”.

Peace and all good!

I thought theology, like logic, was either correct or incorrect?

It is, but most theology this side of Heaven is simply speculation. The specific things we absolutely know to be true about God (such as the Trinity, the Incarnation and the hypostatic union, and Transubstantiation), we can’t really understand fully this side of Heaven.

Theology is subjective. There are vast theological differences within the Catholic Church without going against dogma or doctrine.

There seems to be confusion between dogma and theology by our brother who wants theology to be black and white, or correct or incorrect.

Well, if Jesus waits until we are all extinct before he returns then we won’t have to worry about this problem. Lol. 😃

Perhaps the souls are cleansed as they are ‘caught up’ to meet Jesus in the air. And have already suffered a purgatory going through the great tribulation.
