What happens to the Holy Bibles confisticated at Airports/

The Quran burning incident has created a lot of noise in muslim world with words used against Christinas hard to be written here.

What must the Arab world or Muslims countries be doing to all the Holy Bibles confisticated at the airports from people who go to work in their countries? Do they give it as much respect as they expect from non muslims for their quran?

Propogation in these countries is forbidden, but many do take Holy Bibles for their individual readings and they get confisticated.
 
Who are they? Why are BIbles confiscated? I’m not familiar with this.
 
I did a search, and came up with this:
The Saudi authorities do accept the private practice of religions other than Islam, and you are only allowed to bring a Bible into the country as long as it is for your personal use. However, importing larger quantities can carry severe penalties as it will be viewed that it is your intention to convert others.

Yeah, you gotta be careful, but you CAN take one Bible into the country. 😉

I was reading the newspaper www.arabnews.com in relations to the present Quran burning incident, and there were lots of comments written by non muslims in regards to this matter. So this must be happening in Saudi arabia, and maybe the custom guys dont know that One Bible is allowed. 🙂
 
Maybe they were overstepping their bounds in response to the Quran-burning threat. 🤷

I didn’t know they did that . I think it’s sad.
 
I know in some contries they have “stores” where you can buy stuff confiscated at the airports. I know for a fact there is at least one in the philippines (though they don’t take bibles there, just other contraband). I’m not sure how legit it is, or if its kind of like a black market.

It’s one possibility though!
 
My X husband worked in Saudi for about 4 years and he said they confiscate bibles at the airport and witnessed it several times.

Of which “real” holy book are you speaking? To Christians, the Bible is holy, the word of God, etc., although I find how holy it is depends on the Christian to whom you speak.

To Muslims, the Quran is a holy book, the word of God, etc.

There are others as well, although not all claim to be the actual word of the God in question.

Just thought I would point that out.

When it comes to Muslim relations, there is great need now for us to request of them greater tolerance towards people of other faiths.

The Vatican has been working very hard. I have a Muslim community by me, but as a woman, I don’t know quite how to begin becoming acquainted. The men and boys all dress like the locals but the women must wear more foreign dress. So I don’t know from that if I can be accepted…but you don’t know until you try.

There is a great need we reach out to these people…and also to the Hispanic…to have greater unity and integration into our society…especially Muslim women.

I have a relative in the military, who:( saw the same thing in another of the Muslim countries. (I have no idea how he got his Bible past them, though he may have had one sent by his wife, now that I think about it. Maybe the fact that he was in the army, & he was passing through, as a member of the military of an ally had something to do with it?🤷).

Thanks, Absolutely true, and I have heard it too. I wanted to know if anyone on this forum had heard of it. 🙂 One of my friends Holy Bible was confisticated and he had to pay fine and never got the Holy Bible. Wonder what happened to it.

I don’t know what becomes of the bibles confiscated but he did say that the very first year he was there was a real eye opener in many ways from the confiscation of bibles to the way the women were treated. One of the first bibles confiscated that he witnessed was a little girl’s at the airport and eventhough she was crying they still took it from her. He was not a religious man and actually thought HE was God so, this taking of the bibles was relayed to me in passing and when I questioned it further just got blank stares. LOL!

It would have been interesting to have been able to get down to the nitty gritty on this but he could not grasp the point. I will tell you that I worked for muslims and it was a real eye opener too. They were able to speak from both sides of their mouths and did a very good job of it.
 
Glad we have the internet today. No need to bring a Bible, just go online and read from there.
