What happens when you reject God's offer?

I’m VERY STUBBORN. I hate that God gave me free-will, yet I have to live my life according to how He wishes because He knows better for me. I have to marry the man God wants for me, live where God wants, etc. Where is the free-will? When I think of Catholicism, I just think of suffering, fasting, dealing with difficult people, carrying a cross, confessing your sins (even venial). Trying to perfect yourself constantly while others are allowed to roam free. People say it is easy to be a good person - treats others the way you want to be treated.
I do not know even agree with God’s classification of a mortal sin. If I oversleep and miss Sunday mass, I am in danger of hellfire. If I watched porn for five hours, then after got hit by a van, I will perish in hell.
I do not like my personality or what I look like. God made some people very beautiful, not me. I cannot complain well because I was given the gift of life.
 
Prayers are not always answered. People make up lies that He is just waiting for the “right” time. If you do not pray, then you are prideful.
 
Let’s talk about “the freedom of the glory of the children of God.”

Yes, God has a plan in mind for you.

No, that doesn’t mean that He is making you keep to one single trail like some kind of videogame; or that He’s taking off points whenever you don’t turn 187 degrees and hop twice, at exactly the right moment.

God has given you all sorts of gifts, like reason and prudence, and the things you’re good at. He wants you to use them in a way that goes along with His commands. But how you use those gifts is your choice, and yours alone.

No two saints are alike. That’s a good feature, not something God didn’t want to happen.

So yes, some people will act like every person has just one “soulmate” (not a Christian term of theology!!), and that if they never meet and stay with this one true love, they will be miserable forever.

Bushwah. You could meet and marry any one of lots of available good men and be happy, or you could meet and marry any one of lots of available good men and be unhappy. Living with a bad man, you could still get to Heaven; living with a good man, you could still go to Hell. There isn’t just one choice; you need to use your brains and heart and figure out your best choice, or the choice you can live with.

Of course, there are cases where God gets out the giant neon arrow to tell people to “Do this now!!” or “Don’t do this whatever you do!!!” But those are usually very special cases.

We should always ask God for guidance and discernment, but sometimes there really is no wrong answer. He always gives us freedom to choose: good, bad and indifferent.

If you stay away from sin, your life will be full of exciting free choices.

This part is funny.

We have recently had Stanley Cup playoff games in our city. I don’t know how much the tickets are going for, somewhere $300 and up, for one game. People are spending money on jerseys and all kinds of team stuff. The team details are on the tv, in the news, on the radio. It’s nothing but hockey talk in this town. Now let’s say someone bought you a ticket to the game, to the Stanley Cup playoffs !!! and you missed it because you had a snooze and over slept. You know how absolutely ridiculous that would sound to someone who drove 4 hours, put on all their gear, painted their face and brought the loudest noise maker they could find? They would stand with their mouths gaping open at you speechless. They spared no expense and someone *gave *you a ticket and you missed it.

We have something greater than this waiting like a prisoner of love in the Blessed Sacrament. We are so pathetic and luke warm about our faith. Why aren’t we excited? Counting down the days until Sunday morning? Can’t sleep, can hardly wait to meet with Jesus? Looking to buy ‘Jesus stuff’ to put in our room. Because He is not the love of our life. It’s embarrassing to think on it. We love him so little yet demand so much from him! We even get mad at him when we demand something and it doesn’t go the way we want. Wow. We treat God like we are an infant in a high chair hitting our spoon and hollering that the servant (mom or dad) isn’t moving fast enough. We need guidance and help.

Let’s look at learning to drive a car. We have to study, pass a test. Get behind the wheel and practice. There’s a person in charge who grades us, decides if we pass or fail, whether we get a license or not. Why? Because we share the road with a zillion other people. When we’re driving, we sure hope the other drivers are obeying the law and being smart when conditions are bad. It’s the same thing with sin. We have to learn what sin is, how it hurts us and others because we have to share this planet with a zillion other people. I sure wish the other folks were obeying God’s laws too. Be grateful for the chance to learn, to grow, to improve. It’s not a burden. There are people rotting in jail that wished they made other choices. With the guidance of the Church we can make smart choices. We don’t have to focus on hell but look to God and heaven.

God offers us his friendship, his grace, his love. Think on these things.
