Could you please advise the Church teaching which might answer the following;
If a sincere penitent confesses a real sin and the priest mis-hears or misunderstands and doesn’t feel absolution is needed, would we have cause to think that God would still accept and grant the forgiveness originally being sought? (Notwithstanding that the priest DIDNT formally offer absolution.)
