I don’t care what your religious background is, I’d like to hear from the members here, about things God has done for them in their lives. I think this could be a very positive thread!
God has done so many things in my life over the last few years especially, that it would take forever for me to describe them all, so for now, I’ll just use one example.
In 2006, we were living in a suburb which was rather remote and had hardly any Jewish community. I began praying and asking God to help us move to a religious Jewish community.
Not long after, I met a real estate agent at the Hebrew school where my kids attended, 2 hours away (!) He offered to help us sell our house.
Not long after that, I found our new home via a websearch online. I know this sounds crazy, but we didn’t look at any other houses…something told me when I saw that one that THAT IS THE HOUSE.(turned out, I was right—not only is it in the heart of a religious Jewish community, its a quiet neighborhood, the house is in immaculate condition, the taxes are low, expenses are low, and we got it for a good price too.)
To try to make a long story short, the agent who was helping us sell called us one day, right before the first night of Passover. He said he had a potential buyer who was willing to pay more than any of the other people who had seen the house, and he wanted to pay cash, but he wanted to come that night (which was Passover.)
I told my agent that there is no way I would show the house on the first night of Passover, that I was willing to risk losing the sale.
He told me he respected my religious views, but that I was CRAZY for doing this. I said, so be it.
Well, that potential buyer agreed to come three days later, and when he did, he offered $25,000. more than any previous potential buyer had! He even agreed to pay closing costs, and because he was a termite inspector by profession, he even did the termite inspection which saved us $150.00. He also said we could take anything in the house with us that we wanted, such as the (brand new) washer and dryer (usually they stay with the house.)
My agent said to me (when I first refused to show the house on the first night of Passover), “You know, if you manage somehow to get more than $175,000. (the highest offer to date at that time) for this house, in this declining real estate market, I will say to myself, 'Albert, she must have done many mitzvot (good deeds) to deserve this!”
