So, here we are - Holy Week; Holy Thursday; Good Friday.
What have we done? Have we changed through the years?
I find myself working; stopping in to Church for a minute this afternoon (Holy Thursday) but not getting to Church for Holy Thursday evening services / Mass; nor do I expect to get to Church for Good Friday service - aside from making a personal visit to make the Stations of the Cross, if possible. While Church attendance on these days is not a sin, it’s not the Catholic I was raised to be. I feel ashamed of myself. I refuse to work on Good Friday out of respect for this most solemn day - and for that reason only. It won’t be a day for personal enjoyment activities or shopping. I can’t help but ask - have you found yourself asking the same?

During lent, i did reduce:
  • Watching tv
  • Time on the computer
  • listening to music
I also cut down on:
  • Tea/coffee to a minimum
  • No sweets or soda
  • Not buying uneccecary things
  • No facebook or twitter
  • Not much cinema or that kind of activities
But did:
  • Attend mass more or less every day with the adoration of the sacraments before mass
  • Praying the rosary
  • Stations of the cross on fridays
  • Providing the needs to the church and/or Caritas
  • and being as faithful as possible to God
Not meaning to brag here…but you asked what i did: so i answered. 🙂

Not nearly as much as I should have, considering what Jesus did for me. :sad_yes:

A small sidenote: i never do (or eat) anything joyfilled on fridays. It is not supposed to be a day of joy. A day of praying, attending mass, more praying and commemory of what Lord Jesus Christ went through for us.

I abstained from all alcohol and caffiene during lent

Self-denial feels very wholesome after the fact. As a child, St. Theresa of Liseaux used to have a string full of beads. She would begin setting all of the beads at one end of the string. And after every act of self denial, she would slide one of the beads over, and eventually have a collection of them.

Durning Lent I try every hard to be humble, and fast eating fish Wedday and on friday. I pray especial for the Soul,s in Purgarty.
As for working on Good Friday, the job I held, didn,t allow for me to be off,if you try it now, they fire you. May God have Mercy on those that make others work on good Friday . Amen
