Indeed, I think it is an exercise in humility. Having additional ‘outward signs’ for people who don’t see a wedding (or marriage) as such may in fact be a good idea (in the sense of drawing connections and so forth).
Because of how clear washing the bride’s feet is in terms of humility, I would like to do the same (should I find someone to marry, of course
