What heresy is this?

I was talking to a friend about a heresy, but i can’t think of the name. This heresy said that everything on earth was evil and followers believed it was better to be dead than alive. They even encouraged suicide. I have a feeling it’s Gnosticism or some form of it but I am not sure.

I know that Gnosticism believed that the body was evil and that even procreation was bad because you were introducing more evil to the world so your mystery heresy sounds like Gnosticism to me.

I was thinking of the Manichaeans (written about by Saint Augustine who followed along with them until his conversion), but I think the correct belief, a form of gnosticism, is Albigensianism. Here’s some more info…

Catharism; a branch of Gnosticism. These guys still exist, especially in France.
