WHY IN THE HECK ARE YOU CATHOLIC?
Are there many Catholics that behave like this?

  1. Catholics who spend time creating lists of Catholics they don’t like.
In spite of being a well catechised, daily Mass attender, frequent confession goer, I’m on your little list @no. 4 because I wear sandals all summer!🤷

Amen! lol I’m willing to admit i’m guilty of none other than number 4 on the list… I’ve always pondered that one and never understood it. Oh well. Who ever said sandals and shorts in the dead of summer was inappropriate? Especially when it frequently reaches 110degrees here and the church is not financially able to use the air conditioner to its fullest capabilities. (I too am well catechized, attend daily mass, and go to confession frequently.)

No.4–Jesus wore sandals, as do many of the priestly orders. We had a visiting priest who wore sandals. And I sometimes wear them to daily Mass, but not on sunday. No explanation.

And just who are we to criticize anyone else. We are all sinners before God and should be more humble and forgiving towards others, as it says in the Lord’s Prayer.

Some of our church goers are guilty of what you say, as I am, but God knows why I am there and it is for Him, not for others to judge me.

I feel bad for you in your anger. Also that you spend so much effort judging others while you are at Mass. Perhaps if you spent more time discerning the real reasons to be at Mass, you wouldn’t have so much time checking out the communicants.

May peace reign in your heart.

Are there many Catholics that behave like this?
**Over 65% of Catholics do not attend Sunday Mass!

30% of Catholics do not believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

It is not totally their fault.

I used to be one of those Catholics until i finally accepted that i was not my own god because my arrogance resulted in horrible suffering for my family & humiliation for me!

We must provide a positive, loving witness to inspire those who are searching for the Truth.

Pope Benedict XVI said this week;

“Dear brothers and sisters, I would like to say to everyone, also to those who are in a moment of difficulty on their walk of faith, or also to those who participate little in the life of the Church or to those who live ‘as if God didn’t exist,’ not to be afraid of the Truth, not to ever interrupt the walk towards it, not to ever cease searching for the profound truth about themselves and about the things with ‘the interior eye’ of the heart.”

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora Pro Nobis Pecctoribus!

What is bothering me right now are the Catholics who read the prayer requests for the people who are really hurting and in pain, and they can’t even stop to say something nice to the ones that haven’t gotten any responses. One lady who was in really bad shape said that out of almost 80 people that had stopped to read her thread, I was the only one that responded. This is really sad. Catholics should care for one another much better than this!

What do I not like about other Catholics?

A condesending or holier then thou attitude. When they think they can judge the hearts of their fellow believers by externals. Especial if you don’t go to the EF, receive CITH, or don’t kneel for receiving communion. Sometimes I wonder where Catholic charity went?

Catholics that don’t know their faith and don’t make an effort to find out. It’s a lot easier now to do that then it was 20 years ago. We should at least be on the path.

What I don’t like:

Catholics who presume to sit in judgement of other Catholics!

Take the beam out of your own eye!

What I like about being Catholic:

The Church is a training ground for Saints and a hospital for sinners. There is room – and there is hope – in this Church for a sinner like me.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!

Ex-Southern Baptist, ex-agnositc, ex-atheist, ecstatic to be Catholic!

WHY IN THE HECK ARE YOU CATHOLIC?
Because it’s a hospital for sinners?

I think that Nicea works for the Catholic Church. Has to deal with a lot of things and probably is frustrated that people treat these things so lightly.
Its easy to get frustrated ,being in the field its hard. Cut him some slack, he takes his faith seriously.

Wow! Amen brother! A non-Catholic who was the only one to acknowledge that I work for the Catholic Church…😦

You know rightlydivide, you are so correct. It is so different from the outside as oppose when you are on the inside. As my late uncle Richard used to say to me: The hardest material one will ever work with is people. He is SO right. I am not trying to judge people, but my list are things that can be rectified. And yes you are right, I do take my faith serious and it does frustrate me and hurt me.

Why am I Catholic?
Because I was baptized as an infant in the Catholic church MANY years ago;)
And now a question for you: Are you capable of going to church to worship and adore God without worrying about how ithers are behaving?? If not, why not?
