I read it, Javi…that was a very nice post, and of course I accept any apology that you actually owe.

I’m a little intrigued by “Mormonism’s deepest secrets…” because, honestly, we don’t have any. At least, no more than Catholicism does. Things that might seem to others to be ‘secrets’ aren’t, really, any more than Catholic canon law is a secret–even though I have been told several times right here that nobody other than a well trained canon lawyer could possibly understand it.

Well, I had never heard of CARM. I think you may be attaching more importance to the web-based world than it deserves, zerinus.

Now that you have drawn them to my attention, CARM smacks a lot of the work of a single hero. More autodidact than venomous, in my view.

I stated what I admired about Mormons in my earlier post. That would include strong family life, high moral standards, preparation for future disasters, helping one another - and we could go on.

My second post was in response to those Catholics who seemed to feel closer to the LDS than to Protestantism. That struck me as bizarre, in that Mormons have such a totally different religion in so many ways.

In all candor, while I admire Mormons as people I do have  very serious problems with the history (and alleged history) and theology of their church. I hope this is a place where we can dialogue about such problems/differences without being scolded for taking issue with one another. I assume civil dialogue is what a forum is for.

Thank you Diana. I really appreciate it. To me, and probably other non-LDS, much of the LDS ritual, etc. does seem like “deep secrets” since most has never been brought up and dsicussed. It is this that I refer to. I am interested in the temple ritual(s) primarily.

Yes, I read your post, thank you. I wasn’t aware you had done anything that needed apologizing. I take the cut and thrust of debate in my stride! I don’t easily get offended by harsh or critical comments. That is part of the fun of the game. And I have a short memory. I don’t remember who said what. So forgive me for not remembering what it is you are apologizing for! But if you feel you need to, I certainly accept your apologies. :hug3:

You can find the Temple ceremony scripts on the 'net. I can tell you WHAT it is we do, and why we do it; the purposes.

However, the ceremony itself is very sacred to us–to me. We do not discuss them outside Temple walls, because, well—if "pearls before swine’ wasn’t applicable about anything else, it is about this one. I don’t want my Temple experiences be troubled by any memory of discord regarding them, and the best way to do that is to keep them there. This is the attitude you will get from every TBM out there. We won’t talk about Temple ceremonies outside the Temple walls.

I think you would understand completely if you saw the sort of…stuff…that evangelicals and anti-Mormons displayed at the SLC Temple Square.

Still, you can find the scripts out there, and again, I will be happy to explain what, and why. None of the concepts and lessons we learn in the Temple are “secret.” In fact, no doctrine we learn in the Temple differs from that which we teach outside it.

The actual ceremonies? No, sorry…they are sacred to us and we don’t talk about them outside Temple walls. However, WHAT we do, and WHY we do it–and the doctrines we learn in there? Sure. Those are talk aboutable.

In fact, we don’t learn any doctrine inside the Temple that we haven’t learned outside of it.
