Please join me in singing the praises of Little St. Therese.

What I love about St. Therese is that she shows that it is possible to become a saint, even a great saint/Doctor of the Church, from your own modest home. I love how she turns EVERYTHING into an act of love, such as walking up the stairs, doing dishes, folding laundry, even sleeping! Sometimes I look at people around me who have so much virtue and so many special gifts and they get to offer so much to God. They do GREAT things for Him and influence so many people. I on the other hand am home alone a lot and I don’t run into many people to offer service to on a daily basis. I love that through St. Therese’s example and words, I can trust that I am exactly where God wants me and He is pleased with my tiny sacrifices and prayers that no one will ever know about.

How about you?

I love St. Therese too! She is the first Saint I’ve ever had a devotion to, and I first learned about her by reading The Story of a Soul. I was struck by how warm and loving she seems, and I also found her very relatable, since she seemed to struggle with some of the same things that I struggle with, like anxiety.

Such a wonderful saint 🙂

I just finished reading her book last night (which was her feast day here in Australia)
I like ‘the little way’ and have started doing little things like she does. I find her very inspirational 🙂

I am so glad to see this thread! I have read The Story of a Soul several times, I just ordered the biography by Guy Gaucher from a used book-seller on Amazon. I have a special love for St. Therese for reasons very similar to those given here - she gives me hope that I too can become a saint if I really strive for it.

Recently our pastor preached on St. Pio (Padre Pio)… even though the commemoration is not supposed to be observed if his feast falls on a Sunday, this priest loves St. Pio so much that he couldn’t resist talking about him. He told a number of stories about the remarkable things the Saint did - his ability to read people’s souls and so forth. I found myself thinking that I am grateful for the witness St. Pio gave, he demonstrated how God’s action in our lives is really only limited by our own lack of faith; and yet I was thinking that St. Pio could never be an inspiration for me, in the sense that I would want to imitate him. He seems so far above my level.

St. Therese on the other hand, seems so approachable. I feel that her kind of sanctity is attainable for ordinary people like me.

Has anyone read the book about St. Therese called “Everything is Grace”? If so, what did you think about it?

Hello 👋 . St Therese is my Confirmation Saint. I love her simplicity and her focus on loving and trusting God and loving others.
I have a group devoted to her- see link in my signature 😃

I have, and I loved it! It is so true too. Everything: the good, the bad… it can all be a means of sanctity (a grace), b/c if we trust God, we will see everything as coming from His will, whether directly or permissively. I have a lot to work on in accepting that 😊 - it all sounds good, but in practice, when life throws rotten tomatoes at me, I often forget where they came from and how valuable they are…

It sounds like a great book to read. Another book that focuses on learning to live Gods will is “Abandonment to Divine Providence” it’s a great read.

I too need to learn to accept my crosses more gracefully you’re not alone there 🙂
