What I Love About the Catholic Church

How can you have the Terminator but no actual deaths? 😃
 
The gifts I have found in the Catholic Church astound me at every turn. Worshiping Jesus at Mass touched me, from the first time I went to now.

When I was inquiring about Catholicism the rational and reasonable explanations, even for the most mysterious and mystical aspects of God and His Church, was a discovery and a surprise.

The Sacraments, starting with my baptism, confirmation and Eucharist, are like nothing I have ever known.

I love our love for Mary. Mass for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary had me in tears when we sang our hymns for her. There isn’t anything in the world like our love for Mary and the Saints.
 
I forgot about Purgatory. Purgatory has been growing in my mind more and more. I actually have need for Purgatory at this point in my life.
 
Well, one thing I like about the Catholic Church is The Society of Jesus.
The Jesuits are an amazing Order
 
Ther are so many things I love about the Catholic Church that I can hardly know where to begin. But it took some time away from it for me to appreciate these things.

One thing I love is the emphasis on forgiveness and God’s Mercy. We know we are sinners, yet we are never without hope. The Church is always ready to welcome us Home, no matter how far we have strayed. And there are always people ready to help you. The Sacrament of Reconciliation, where we can unburden ourselves and hear the words of forgiveness and absolution and reconciliation is very freeing, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.

I love our emphasis on prayer. There is a prayer for EVERYTHING. And if there isn’t, feel free to make one up. But seriously, when life gets really tough, and you are at a loss for words, or grief has you immobilized, and you can’t pray, there’s always a prayer that you have learned to fall back on. Many times in my life I have depended on our traditional prayers to get me through tough situations. Plus to know that there are those souls who are in the presence of God Himself praying for us and interceding for us, is very comforting. The Communion of Saints is an absolutely wonderful gift from God to us.

And most of all, the Eucharist. To know that Jesus Christ did not leave us, He is still here with us, and we can have His very presence in our bodies is mind-blowing. What more could a Christian want?
 
The only things that that sucker has tried to “terminate” is our pensions, our pay, traditional marriage (he’s pro gay marriage bigtime), my teacher tenure, our economy, and our future. He doesn’t need any dead bodies in his wake, there is a trail of financial and middle class monetary and quality of life termination he’s handled nicely :rolleyes:

I find myself, when watching “Predator” now rooting for the Predator to nail Arnie! I want an alternative ending DVD for just that end! 😛

I like to rewind “The Terminator” original film and watch Linda Hamilton run over him with that Mack truck over and over! 😃 I’m just kidding…maybe only rewind once

I’m tired of actors in politics. The only actor I might vote for would be Joe Pesci LOL!!

Can you imagine Mel Gibson as the next Governor of California!? LOL

I love confession. It feels so cleansing. I love the feeling when I walk out of confession that I have done as God commanded.

I’m also a fan of confession. And regarding Arnold, take the WORST of the Republican Party with their anti-union, anti-pension, teacher-hating mentality and merge it with the WORST of the Democrats–pro-gay, pro-abortion, and you’ve got Arnold. Good times LOL

I love our Truth…No deception…No contradiction…Anywhere

John 15:26
But when the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me.

and…

I love the fact that my Lord wants to give a piece of Himself to me everyday, a piece of God Himself, everyday…and all i have to do is go a few blocks each morning to get Him…who would not want a piece of that ?

What I love about the Catholic Church, hmmmm where do I begin for there is many things that I Love, I guest I begin at Matthew 16: 18-19 And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.

I love the Mass!

I love being able to walk into a parish and feeling the reverence!

I love that our parish smells of incense even though we don’t use it all that often!

I love having Jesus in the Eucharist

I love Eucharistic adoration! That hour goes by so fast!

I love confession too although I’m always scared beforehand

I love our priest! He’s the first pastor/religious leader I’ve had that really cares!

I love that it has led me back to Christ!

I love that the Mass is universal. I go to one parish on Sunday but during the week I can go to one close to my work and get the same Mass!

I love the prayer!

I even love the teachings of the Church. Wasn’ t sure that I agreed with their contraception position and being open to life–or that my husband would. Am I the only one who feels that the sex is better now that I’ve surrendered to Holy Mother Church’s teaching?😃 Well–not the only one…my husband feels that way too:D

I love Lent! It meant so much more this year!
 
My wife and I had no such experience. We found it to be miserable, unbearable, and in no way better. I have had private conversations with many folks who feel the same way. The “honeymoon effect” was not a part of our equation. Glad you like it. If less is more to you, then you’re in the right philosophy. My wife and I fundamentally hated the entire thing.

Sorry to hear that. Hate to rub it in but for us it’s actually turned out to be more often…😃 Which works for both of us:thumbsup:

Hmmm…we have coffee and doughnuts every Sunday. And I remember it when I was a kid too…

But of course…we are more blessed here in Oregon…😃
