What I'd like to see the Church changing

Before he became pope and while serving as Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio reportedly privately urged his fellow Argentine bishops in 2010 to signal the Church’s public support for civil unions, as a compromise response to calls for same-sex marriage.[5] Fellow bishops rejected the idea.[5] Other sources both support and deny this account.[6][7] At that time Argentina already permitted civil unions, and was debating a bill to allow same-sex couples to marry and adopt children.
The key words here being “reportedly” and “Other sources both support and deny this account”.
The best one can say is that even Wikipedia admits the facts are disputed.
Allow civil unions for homossexual couples
I won’t comment on the morality aspect, but I’ll just point out that in most countries the Church has no veto right (or actually, no say whatsoever) on whatever the legislative organs choose to do. “Allowing civil unions” are not something she can do. What she can do is expressing her position about the societal choices which are being made and the laws which are being passed.

First of all, it’s only 3 issues. I was baptized when I was a baby but grew away from the Church, mostly due to my family. Now I’m interested in coming back and I just wanted to hear your opinions about this. I’ve already said that I don’t even know if I disagree with the Church on these issues, I’m just learning about them so I can reach a final opinion. And I’m pretty sure the vast, vast, VAST majority of catholics do not agree with the Church on every single issue. I’m not saying that that’s okay, but it’s a fact.

LOL, you have inadvertently stepped into a firestorm, my friend. I see that you are new.
You should know that, on balance, this forum is very conservative, and you will not be able to have an actual conversation about any of those topics here without being shouted down. Don’t let that hamper your own faith journey.

“allowing” within the Church, not regarding the law. Just not making it a sin.

It’s not about being unkind and ‘making’ them into a sin, they’re intrinsically evil, as already mentioned. We are to love the sinner but hate the sin.

I thought you were a convert.
First of all, it’s only 3 issues.
They are major issues
And I’m pretty sure the vast, vast, VAST majority of catholics do not agree with the Church on every single issue. I’m not saying that that’s okay, but it’s a fact.
I was asking in the context of being a convert, but yes, I wish that public dissenters would either repent or stop identifying as Catholic.

I thought you were a convert.
When did I say I was a convert? I just said I was new to the Catholic faith, which means that only now I’m seriously learning about it.

My own assumption. I’d assumed new to the faith meant you were a recent convert.
