If Adam didn’t sin, his children and their children and their children (and so on) would still have free will. What would happen if one (or more) of his descendants sinned? Would only their family lines have to die? What would happen?

Given the theology of Adam as the head of the human race, it doesn’t seem that all of humanity would have been affected by one of his children’s sin. However, it would seem fitting that the descendents of that offender would suffer original sin.

Original sin didn’t just affect our spiritual lives but had actual physical consequences, and it would seem that if physical reality would change for one, it would have to change for all, and thus it would seem possible that Adam’s innocent line would suffer physical pain. There is also no reason to suppose they would have any of Adam’s preternatural gifts, just his original grace.

Doesn’t that kind of mean that God set us up to Fall, because if the human race didn’t commmit the first sin when it did, then things would get very complicated?

I am not sure if that senario should be considered more complicated than what actually happened.

If Adam had remained innocent, I suspect his future off-spring would have had a much mroe difficult time committing sin because they would have had a good deal of training from their parents on how to avoid temptation, and would also have the parental authority figure on earth helping them in concrete instances. It would seem possible at the very least.
