What if all Catholics wore a garment to identify themselves as Catholic?

So that’s why moms were letting their kids mess with those annoying things in church all last year. It was a CCD lesson on the Trinity. Who knew?

In all seriousness, i think it is better to just let people know you’re a Christian by your love, as the old song went.
I like Roman collars and such on priests, and habits on sisters, but making everyone of a certain religion wear an identifier sounds too much like “yellow stars” for me to feel comfortable. If someone wishes to wear a visible crucifix or a medal, it’s their choice. If someone wishes to be “undercover” in their dress, that’s also their choice.

What do you think of the idea of all Catholics distinguishing themselves as Catholics by wearing a kind or style of garment? Muslims have garments, Hindus have a style of dress, ethnic groups have forms of dress…Catholic religious have garments.

Just as with any religious group, it’s purpose would be to identify each other, to be a witness, and to aid in identity.
If you mean every single Catholic and not just religious and lay orders then no I don’t think its a good idea.
