The title of this thread had me expecting a rather different question than the one actually posed, so to avoid making a mess of that one I took it here. Sorry for stealing your title, ALLFORHIM 
What if all churches of every religion disappeared in a puff of smoke overnight? What would change for those of you who worship a deity or deities – actually, let me make that more general: what would that change for everyone?
Obviously it’s not proof that ‘God is dead’ or what have you (considering someone had to make them go poof) or even necessarily an indictment of religion. But things would be different, and I’m curious as to what you all think they’d be like.
For me… I think my agnosticism might take a hit just on an emotional level, but the power to make a bunch of buildings vanish is not indicative of divine presence. Also I’d hope the Pieta got left on the ground when St Peter’s went up… I’d really miss that
