Incurable

My wife and I could not conceive and 16 years ago, we had twin boys using IVF. According to what I’ve been told by people at church, this is a Mortal Sin. Because God’s will was not allowed to “participate” in conception, and because living embryo’s were made outside the mother. I have not, and am not willing to confess this sin, or seek absolution. In short I am not sorry for this process we, in full knowledge, used to have our children.

I must also add that we used my sperm, and her eggs.

My question is, should I leave the Catholic Church? I have had 16 years to think about this, and my attitude remains as strong as ever.
