If you were to commit a mortal sin, how soon must you get to confession? What if you couldn’t get to confession immediately? I committed a mortal sin today, and I cannot get to confession until Sunday (it’s Friday). Am I okay? There aren’t any priests doing confession today at anytime (except for confessions for the confirmandi) and I am going to be gone all day tomorrow. I am very worried, and I most definitely will go to confession on Sunday, if I am okay to wait until then.

Thanks you guys!

Do what most loyal Catholics do…go to mass and don’t receive Communion if that is the issue.

Why is that a big deal for you - Jesus will be very happy you came to see him even if you understandably out of respect decline to touch him with your dirty hands until they are washed.

Grace is not like a scrooge Bank Manager who will shut down your account the very moment you exceed your credit limit. Do you really have a personal relationship with Jesus or an impersonal ATM “relationship”. Just think about it. God is human. Like your parents - presumably they are normal loving people, especially re the failings of their own son.

And download a copy of the Catechism. Look up article 1452 and following…
1452 When it arises from a love by which God is loved above all else, contrition is called “perfect” (contrition of charity). Such contrition remits venial sins; it also obtains forgiveness of mortal sins if it includes the firm resolution to have recourse to sacramental confession as soon as possible.

That’s what we usually do - go for the next Confession, unless you want to confess before that. Don’t worry about it. Prayers and being contrite for your sin is the right thing to do in between Confessions.

In the meantime, especially during your night prayers, examine your conscience and say an act of contrition.

God bless.

The fact that you are very worried is actually a good thing, and shows that you have a good conscience, and want to make amends.

Yes, it’s a very painful situation to be in. Knowing that you’ve committed a serious sin, and not being able to confess and get right with God right away. Being a sinful person myself, I can tell you that I’ve been there too.

But after a while one gets tired of playing games. One grows tired of ending up in this miserable state. It’s no fun. With God’s help, one gradually begins thinking about – and taking the necessary actions that one can – to avoid committing those sins that cause one to fall into this unhappy state in the first place…

Go to confession as soon as you can, and keep praying! 😁

Wear your seatbelt and look both ways before crossing the street. 🤣

More likely you have a tendency towards scruples.
If the anxiety is serious talk to your confessor about it before it gets out of hand.
